Oh, that made me all melty and gushy inside, speech escaping me momentarily.

"Wait," Josh said, his brows together. "I take that back. I like you and I love you."

Dear Lord. The emotions that caused in me. No one had ever said anything like that before, not even my former fiancé, and it felt incredible to hear.

"And the why?" he said, shrugging his broad, bare shoulders. "Because..."

He looked away for a moment, but his fingers still gripped my back. And when he returned his gaze, the soft smile on his face tripped up my heart rate.

"You know why?" he asked.

Oh, my God. He was going to answer me. I held my breath, waiting, dying to know what he could possibly have to say.

"Because," he continued, "you've cared about me in a way no one else ever has before."

"I have?"

"Yes, you have. You've asked me about my family, my past. You're always here for me, even when you were going through some rough times. You're a fighter. You didn't give up on me. You didn't give up on yourself. And... and the biggest thing."

He stopped talking, and I shook him. "What? What's the biggest thing?"

That sweet smile turned into a full-on grin, making my heart thud to life. "The biggest thing is what you did today. You brought baseball back to me."

Gah. I couldn't even take it.

I smashed his cheeks together with my hands, making his lips jut out while I gave him a big, sloppy, wet smooch. Our combined laughter made it impossible to kiss anymore, and when we quieted, I dropped my hands from his handsome face, our lips barely brushing against each other in a slow, sweet dance.

But before I knew it, Josh pulled away, a line between his brows. "What about me?"

"What about you?" I asked, not able to resist a little teasing.

He chuckled. "You know."

I brushed his nose with mine, giving him a small peck on the cheek before answering. "You know why I love you?"

"Why?"

"Because you believed in me when no one else did." I put my hand on his flawless chest. "In here, under all these damn muscles, you have a great big heart that I adore."

The flush started up his cheeks, and his eyes were bright with emotion. "Shhh. Don't tell anyone."

"Josh has a big..." I shouted.

He pinched my ass. "You little..."

I skirted out of his arms, sliding away, my legs moving in different directions as I grabbed onto Josh for balance. "Oh, shit."

Josh steadied me, glancing around at the mess surrounding us. "Hey, we should clean this up before it hardens."

"Okay, Mr. Neat Freak."

"Whatever, Miss Messy."

Yeah, I gave him an eye-roll, but he was right, and carefully, I went to grab a few rags from under the kitchen sink. "Here ya go," I said, tossing some to Josh.

Sighing, Josh took in the chocolate ice cream that had melted into the nearby carpet. "Honestly, you might just need to move."

"I'm not sure I'd get my deposit back." I laughed as I bent down to wipe up some whipped cream from the tile floor where most of the mess had accumulated. "And I don't think anybody will take me if they talk to our landlord."
