Lochlan takes a minute to think about what Bodie said, “Okay, well I already know I like you, but I can guess we don’t have to rush it, but I want mommy to marry y'all,” he says, yawning at the end. “I’m sleepy again. Can you tuck me back under the covers?” His words are practically slurring, the poor guy is exhausted.

Bodie chuckles and settles Lochlan back on the bed. “Yeah little man, you can go back to bed. Do you need anything before we get you settled in?”

“Well, I need to potty, and then can you cuddle with me?” he responds, looking hopeful.

“Yeah, I think I can do that. Let's get you up so you can go potty. Do you need your mommy to help you, or do you want to walk by yourself?” Bodie asks while taking him off the oxygen and slipping his socks on his feet.

“I’ll do it myself. I’m a big boy.” Lochlan responds smugly.

Bodie and I laugh, and I pick my son up off the bed and kiss his cheek, “Alright baby, go potty and get back in bed. It’s late.”

As he shuffles into the bathroom, Bodie leans down to hug me and kisses my forehead. “I hope we can figure out a way to make this work, cause Angel, even though it hasn’t been a full day, I’m falling in love with those kids. You have done an amazing job with them.’’

Before I can say anything in response, Lochlan comes back into the room and grabs Bodie’s hand, leading him to the bed. We help get him situated and hooked back up and he snuggles up to Bodie to watch another movie. The nurses come by to do another vital check and lower his oxygen again. I finally get back in bed and settled, falling asleep before the boys do, and waking up a couple hours later after the nurse comes in to lower Lochlan’s O2 some more.

I have to use the bathroom and when I get up I go to check on him, assuming Bodie got on the pull out bed after Loch fell asleep, but nope. He’s snuggled up to Lochan, who is holding on to him like he’s scared he will disappear, which is probably why he’s still laying there. After finishing in the bathroom and washing my hands, I go to fix the covers on the boys when Bodie’s eyes flicker open.

“Want me to get him to let go so you can lay down? That can’t be comfortable for you.” I offer while tugging the blanket over Lochlan some more.

“No, that’s alright. If you're fine with me staying next to him, I don’t mind. He feels safe and that’s all that matters,” Bodie says looking up at me sleepily.

“Okay, if you’re sure. Wake me if you need me to get up. I’m a light sleeper, so just call my name.” I bend down and kiss him and Loch on the head. “Goodnight, Bodie,” I whisper.

Lochlan wakes up at about seven, although Bodie and I have been awake off and on as the nurses have come in and out of the room. Bodie goes down and gets us breakfast after Loch’s is delivered. We all eat, brush our teeth, and get ready for the day. The nurses took him off the O2 around five and so far his levels are staying up. Lochlan is playing a game on Silas’s tablet in bed, I’m curled up in a chair reading, and Bodie is playing some game on his phone when the doctor walks in around nine.

“Good morning guys, are you all ready to get out of here?” he asks, pulling off his stethoscope.

“YES! I wanna go home and play!” Lochlan tells him while jumping up in the bed.

“Good! Cause I’m letting you go here in a bit.” He looks over at me next. “Okay Momma, his O2 stayed perfect all night. I’m going to listen to his lungs one more time, but the nurses said they’ve been fine. He should be perfectly okay to go back to school Monday. I don’t believe there will be any lingering side effects. However, if you notice anything off, follow up with his primary. Any questions?’’

I shake my head, “No sir, I don't think so.’’

He nods at me, “Alright, then. I’m going to have the nurse bring you his discharge papers and take out his IV and y’all will be free to go. The number to reach me will be on the paperwork if you have any questions. Don’t hesitate to call.’’

We thank him and pack what things we have in the room into the bag the guys brought us. I get Lochlan’s shoes on while Bodie gets the throw blankets we have. The nurse comes in about twenty minutes later, takes out the IV and goes over his discharge paperwork. Thirty minutes later we are loaded in my car, which now has a full tank of gas, so apparently the guys filled it up at some point.

I’m scared to see what happens in the future with these guys, and the changes in general, but it’s all starting to feel worth it.
