“I’m talking to my woman, Negotiator.” Walt says without taking his eyes off me.

“Wait,” Rowe says. “Did you get your memory back, dad?” Rowe asks in disbelief.

Walt smiles widely and nods. He leans in so close, all I would have to do is pucker my lips to kiss him. “I’m home, baby.”

“Home?” I repeat, not because he’s wrong, but I just… “There’s something different about you. I just don’t know what it is.”

Walt grabs my chin in his hand and plants a soft kiss on my lips. I sigh because I haven’t felt his kiss in so long. It seems like it’s been forever since we kissed. He removes his lips from mine. “From now on, I expect a kiss when I come home, wake up, go to sleep and hell, even when I fucking sneeze.”

“I, uh…” I try to answer, but Walt kisses me again. This time it’s not so tentative. It’s passionate, and it takes me so high that when he stops, I feel like I’ve fallen a thousand feet back to reality.

Oh, God. I missed him.

I watch Walt as he eats his pancakes. I can’t take my eyes off him.

“Everie? Baby,” Walt calls out to me.

“Yes, Walton?” I answer.

“Don’t look at me when you’re not ready for what I have to give you. I’m fully myself now and I know every single detail. I remember it all.”

“I just…” I place my fork down and stand up, pacing back and forth. “Walton, you’re scaring me because you’re yourself, yes, and then it seems like you’re not. What’s happening?” I look at Rowe.

“Zombie dad got his memory back.” Rowe says with a smile on his face.

I blink. Then look at Walt and run my fingers through my hair. “Babe… You got your memory back? When? How?” I move closer to him but stop as if my mind is confused with what my body is doing.

“Ten helped me. I’ll explain it all soon, but I need you to understand something,” Walt says, placing his utensils down as well. He faces me while he’s on the stool. “THIS is our home. Not just yours, but ours. We are not going to be one of those fucked up couples anymore. Yes, we’ve had our fair share of trauma and baby, I know and understand everything that you’re going through. I promise I will take care of it and you, always. But don’t fucking play with me anymore. You’re about to get to know this Walt Cambridge as a whole. Be lucky that I did all that leaving you alone shit before because it’s an absolute no. No, no, and fucking HELL NO.” He says, standing, coming closer.

I take a step back, but he still moves forward, and we do this dance until I’m against a wall. Walt chortles as he lifts my chin to look at him. His eyes glimmer with some sort of mischief and relief. “Everie,” he calls my name softly, and it makes me feel the butterflies I felt the very first time I met him. “You come first in everything that I do or think of. Baby, I need you to understand that you’re my wife. My everything and life make little sense without you, so work with me. I’ll always work with you. Okay?”

The tears fall, even though I don't know what to say or do. I want to make this work so bad. I really do.

So many things have changed, and I want to fight for this. I want my husband more than anything in this world.

“Okay.”
