“Giveusasecond.” Walt says to Whit. Whit gives a quick nod, and he smiles at me before leaving the car.

“Are we going somewhere?” I ask him.

“Well, I wanted to answer your questions and tell you everything. I don’t think we know a lot about each other.” Walt says.

“I didn’t make you my boyfriend, so that’s all on you.” I tease. “Okay, I know somewhere that we can go.”

“Where are you taking me?” Walt asks.

“The place that makes me smile.” I answer.

Walt gives me a quick kiss as I tell the driver where to take us. I’ve never been in a situation where I’m sharing my places with someone else. It feels both exciting and nerve wrecking.

Although I want to know about what’s going on with Walt, I also don’t want to probe because I wouldn’t have enjoyed it.

Once we reached my favorite aquarium in San Royale, the town that I grew up in, I already had my lawyer call and shut it down for the rest of the day.

“There’s no one here.” Walt says as we walk in and I remove the work leash on Coco replacing it with a looser fun leash so she knows she doesn’t have to be on duty.

“I know. I wanted it this way. Come on, I want to bring you to my favorite pet in the whole wide world.”

“Pet?”

“Yes.”

I take a hold of Walt’s hand and walk to where Allegra, the marine biologist, is waiting for us near the dolphin tanks.

“Hi, Ally!” I get her attention and she smiles at me as she stops feeding Marina, the dolphin that we’re here to visit.

Coco spots both Allegra and Marina. I unclip her leash as she runs towards the two. Marina does a backflip and makes dolphin sounds as she swims back to them, greeting Coco in her own way.

“Hi, Evy!” Allegra stands and pulls me into a tight hug. I let go of Walt’s hand, hugging her back as well.

“I thought you had no friends, Everie.” Walt chimes in as he cocks his brow.

“And I thought she’d never get a boyfriend.” Allegra jokes.

Shaking my head at the audacity of these two. I introduce them, “Walt meet Allegra and Allegra meet Walt Cambridge.”

“The Cambridge? Like Glenn Royal where you invited me to be part of the play, Glenn Royal?” Allegra says with a raised brow.

“Yes.” I answer.

“I’m Walt Cambridge, her boyfriend,” Walt answers. “She introduced me wrong.”

Allegra chuckles as I scoff. “Nice to meet you, Walt. I’d shake your hand, but it smells like fish. I’m Allegra Baldwin, Evy’s non best friend. We don’t do titles yet. We haven’t gotten there. It’s been about what?” She looks at me with her animated big brown eyes. Allegra Baldwin usually has her hair cascading down her back in a kinky Afro curly style, but it’s in a high bun with front bangs. It’s cute and fitting on her face. Her brown skin glows as she smiles at us with perfect teeth.

“Hmm, maybe since we met before graduation.” I smile.

“Allegra is a genius like I am. She graduated college with me at 16 as well. She became a marine biologist full time instead while I went to pursue our other passions, theater.” I offer.

Walt looks at me and Allegra, and I know he’s calling us nerds. “You ready to spend time with Marina?” Allegra offers. She’s always been the considerate type to give space when needed.

I nod. “Thank you.”

“Okay, your suits are over there on the bench. Just strip down to your underwear. I’ll go give Coco the tour.” She winks at me as she says bye to Marina and takes Coco. “Nice to meet you, Walt Cambridge, the boyfriend.”
