“Because he’s going to remember he was in love with someone else and where does that leave me? Alone and jealous for no reason. This is HIS family, HIS home, and HIS people. I’ll have to find somewhere to be. I don’t want to find it then; I need to find it now so that it hurts less. It has to.”

We walk out of the gates, and I’m shocked there're no paparazzi, but not as shocked because Tucker’s men must’ve taken care of them.

“For what it’s worth, there’s over one definition of jealous. I think you’re the third one; fiercely protective. You want to protect Walt because you love him, and you want him all to yourself. Not where he can’t be with his family, but where you can ensure nothing happens to him. Everie, you’re not some insecure little girl and that’s why I didn’t explain what you’re feeling. You are secure in who you are. You’ve always been, but that attack made you question things. Not only that, but you’ve also had a hard life growing up and the lack of proper care with family. It doesn’t mean what you’re feeling is wrong or shouldn’t be expressed. Walt isn’t used to it, probably because you’ve never been upset around him and he’s just shocked.” Tucker says, and he stops mid-walk, looking at me. “Everest, we are your family. You have YOUR people, YOUR home, and YOUR family. Me, Tini, Tennessee and even our very unstable receptionist, Lara. We would never turn you away.”

“Thank you, Tucker. Thank you.”

“And Walt will learn. He’ll learn your tells, your ways, your little things and you’ll see how easily you’ll flow.”

“What if he doesn’t?” I ask.

“And what if he does, Everie? What if he does?”

Not wanting to answer that right now, I change the subject.

“Rager found Hunter…”
