“Soon. Let me enjoy the honeymoon phase for now.”

Tucker chuckles. “I understand.” His face is serious again before he speaks. “Do not hesitate to reach out if you need me. Okay?”

I shake my head, letting him know I’m listening as I put my hair up. “Okay. I will. Right now, I just need to figure out what I’m supposed to do while my wife is at work.”

“Have you been banned from the theater?”

“Not exactly but harming two co-stars means I make the cast nervous. I don’t give a fuck. I’m only playing nice for the missus.”

After hanging up, I wander off to look for my family. I don’t know if the kids are back yet, but I know Whit is here for sure. I find him standing in the living room, but Moonlight is doing something in the kitchen. His eyes never leave Moonlight and the way he squints them tells me they haven’t resolved their issue. It doesn’t seem like a major tiff, but it is lingering. Moonlight puts her phone away when he approaches, and it raises Whit’s irritation.

“What the hell, Moonlight? You’re being extra secretive, and you know I hate secrets!”

Rowe and Sparrow appear towards the end of his sentence. Sparrow spins on her heels and tries to backtrack, but Rowe doesn’t move. He watches while chewing on a Twizzler.

She frowns at Whit for making a scene. “Will you relax? It’s nothing like that, Whit. Can you act like you trust me?”

Her plea is an attempt to get him to relax, but once my brother digs in his heels, that’s it.

“Of course, I trust you, you’re in my life; that doesn’t happen easily. I can feel you holding back, and I don’t like it. Just tell me what’s the problem is.”

The kids wander off, and I move towards the couch.

“There’s no problem,” Moonlight answers as she tries to walk away.

“Moonbeam!”

Everyone pauses like the name has a different meaning, but I don’t know the meaning.

“Dammit, Whit. Why can’t you just leave it alone?”

He steps closer to her and drops his hands on his hips. “Have we met?”

They’re locked in a major stare down, but eventually Moonlight’s gaze softens and her bottom lip trembles.

“You just can’t let me do things my way. I just wanted to surprise you,” she whines as she hands over her phone.

Whit relaxes his stance. “There are a lot of things you can do for me, Beam, but surprise me isn’t one. I don’t like surprises.”

“I just wanted time to think and figure it out.”

“I gave you at least a month. I was being generous. We’re a team. We can figure anything out together.”

He looks at the phone, then does a double take. “What the hell?”

Moonlight twists her fingers as she looks at him. “Do you know what you’re looking at?”

His nod is curt. “Of course, I do. Whose is it?” He turns and gives Rowe a death glare.

Rowe holds up his hands like he’s surrendering. “Whatever you’re looking at has nothing to do with me. I didn’t do anything.”

“Zoom in, Whit.”

“Moonlight Winchester,” he reads out loud.

Whit looks from the phone and back to her; it slides out of his hand and crashes to the ground. While Moonlight stands there mute. He crouches down like he’s going to pick up the phone, but she drops his head in his hands. My brother takes a few deep breaths, like he’s trying to fight for composure.

Moonlight cries. “You hate it. You hate me now!”
