Well, at least we have that in common.

“I feel the same way.”

“Call me with any questions, and good luck with your meeting this weekend,” Richard said and ended the call.

Jack asked, even though he’d heard the entire conversation. I wouldn’t doubt it. He didn’t miss much. “What are you going to do?”

“I’m going to cancel dinner with my parents and go meet my sister. Why?”

“This is my weekend off. Why don’t I join you?” he offered.

“I don’t need a babysitter,” I stated firmly.

“Never said you did. I just thought you could use a friend along,” he said.

I nodded. “Why not? If things don’t go well, at least we can see the sights of Boston.”

“What? South Dakota isn’t good enough for you?” he asked.

“It’s okay. But you know I’ve always been drawn to the city.”I wonder if that’s where I’m from.

I got out of the car, and before shutting the door I said, “I’ll send you the information when I get it.”

Jack pulled away and I headed into my apartment. I had her name, and even though I shouldn’t, I couldn’t wait to get inside to see what I could learn about her on my own. As I opened the door to my apartment and flipped the switch, I noticed the power was off. With my location, even the cell service was poor, so googling her on my phone was out as well.

Before I could grab my truck keys, my cell phone rang. It was my mother. Was the universe telling me not to research my sister?Maybe.Either way, thoughts of Rhonda would need to be put on the back burner. Now I had to listen to my mother tell me all about her shopping day out with her friends.

And this is why you should’ve adopted a girl. She might actually care about these kinds of things.

“Hello, Mother, how was your day?” I asked and plopped down onto the couch.

“You wouldn’t believe the deal I came across today,” she said, the excitement evident in her tone.

“I can’t wait to hear all about it,” I lied. For the next hour, I listened. Part of me wished I could have told her about my day as well. Maybe someday I would be able to.It all depends on what I learn in Boston.
