“Mom, you’re right. I have to go. Thanks for the advice. I love you,” I said.

“I love you, too. Now go get him,” she replied and ended the call.

I plan to. I just can’t see it being as easy as all that, but I’m ready to fight for what I want.

Pulling my laptop from underneath the couch, I searched for the next available flight to South Dakota. This couldn’t be. Nothing available until tomorrow? That pep talk had really worked and I didn’t want to wait another moment to tell Colton that I loved him.

I could send him a text, or call him, but this was something I should do in person. His body language would tell me a lot about how he really felt.

There was one more option, and I hated to use it. But this wasn’t for me, it was for Colton.Mom was right, he probably needs me just as much as I need him.

I called Rhonda. “Hi, sorry to bother you again.”

“You’re never a bother. What can I do for you?” she asked.

“I am trying to book a flight to go see Colton and there is nothing until tomorrow. I’ve checked every airline. Any suggestions?” I asked.

“Yes, hold on. Let me give you Brice’s number.”

“Brice Henderson? What good will that do?” I asked.

“He’ll be able to make arrangements for you to use the Henderson jet.”

A private jet?

“I can’t do that.”

Rhonda said, “Of course you can. This is important. You’re going to see our brother.”

“But what do I say? I don’t even know Brice,” I said.

“He knows who you are. Colton met with him about a week ago. Would you rather I call him for you?” she offered.

I wanted to say yes, but Mom was right - this was my fight. “No. I’ll do it. If you can just text me the number, that would be great. And Rhonda, thank you for being so kind to me.”

“Thank you for loving my brother,” she replied and ended the call.

A moment later I received her text and dialed the number.

“This is Brice,” he answered.

“Hello. I’m…I’m Annabella Montgomery.”

“Hello, Miss Montgomery, what can I do for you?” he asked.

“I…I have been looking for a flight and they are all booked. I was wondering if…if it’s not…not too much trouble, could I borrow the family jet?” There. I did it. I asked one of the richest men in Boston if I could borrow a multi-million-dollar plane like it was nothing.

“When do you need it?” he replied.

No way. He’s going to let me use it?

“Today,” I said.

“Miss Montgomery…”

“Please call me Annabella.”

“Annabella, I can make arrangements for it to take you wherever you want to go, but it won’t be available for a couple of hours. It is already in use.”
