“That’s fine. I am grateful that you will let me use it at all.”

“Where should I tell the pilot you’ll be going so he can get his flight plan ready?” he asked.

“South Dakota.”

“You’re going to see Colton,” he stated.

“Yes.”

“Does he know that?” he asked.

“No. I want…no, Ineedto see him. There’s something I have to tell him.”

“And what is that?” he questioned.

It was none of his business. Then again, the jet was not mine so I really had no choice but to answer if I wanted to use it. “That I love him.”

“Annabella, can you be ready in an hour?” he asked.

I was surprised he didn’t have one word to say about my professing my love for his brother. Maybe he didn’t care how I felt or maybe he just wasn’t romantic and saw no point in going through all this trouble just to say three words. Either way, he didn’t seem to have changed his mind about the use of the jet.

“I can be ready whenever you tell me,” I said.

“I’ll send a limo to pick you up in one hour,” he said.

I gave him my address and ended the call. It didn’t give me much time to shower, dress, and pack, but how much stuff did I need? If things worked out well, then hopefully I’d be spending the next few days in Colton’s bed making up for lost time. If not, then I’d just book a flight back home. And cry till I have no more tears.

Showering was easy, but choosing what to wear was another story. I knew red was Colton’s favorite color, but he had already seen me in everything red that I owned. I had one blue dress that hugged me just right that he might like, too. I slipped it on and somehow it was a bit tighter than I remembered.I’d better ease up on the ice cream.

I looked out the window and saw a black limo pulling up in front of my apartment building. It was going to be weird being a passenger and not the driver. Grabbing my purse and small carryon bag, I went outside. The driver opened the rear door and I slipped inside. From the roads he was taking I knew we were headed to the airport. Unlike when I drove passengers to the airport, he didn’t drop me off at Departures. Instead he went around to a private entrance and a security guard opened it for us. The driver pulled around to a private hangar and parked.

“Should I get out?” I asked.

“The jet hasn’t arrived yet. It should be landing shortly,” he said.

I didn’t see the jet land, probably because I was looking in the opposite direction, but I saw it taxiing towards me. It was bigger than I had imagined, and the word ‘Henderson’ was written on the side.

The driver opened my door just as my phone buzzed with a text. I stopped and read it.

I NEED TO SEE YOU.

My heart skipped a beat.Colton.

I NEED TO SEE YOU TOO. THERE IS SOMETHING I NEED TO SAY.

With the driver standing by my door, I slipped my phone back into my purse and got out of the limo. I didn’t want to keep the pilot waiting for me. This was all on company time and the company dime and I wasn’t going to waste their money.

I reached for my bag and said, “I can carry it, thank you.”

“Enjoy your flight, Miss Montgomery.” He closed the door but waited by the limo until I started up the stairs to board the jet.

My legs began to tremble, and my weakness increased with each step I climbed. It wasn’t flying that scared me. It was Colton’s text. What did it mean?Guess I’ll find out in a few hours.
