Rust

One month later.

The ocean whispered in my ear, pulling my tired, aching body from a deep slumber. Our resort hotel was located right on the beach. We’d slept with the window open, so we could wake to the soothing rush of the waves coming in and out. The sound of the ocean healed my body and soul which, after a grueling playoff run, was just what the doctor ordered.

I stirred, a salty taste lingering on my lips.

“Are you awake?” Isabelle whispered.

“Mm-hm,” I grumbled.

Yeah, we’d woken up in paradise, but the disappointment was still fresh in my mind. And yeah, there’s more to life than hockey—but truthfully, getting eliminated always takes a few days to get over.

She nestled closer and kissed my cheek. “Morning, my love.”

“Morning, babe.” I cracked my tired eyes open and smiled at her.

She looked so lovely. Waking up to a woman like her sure blunted the sting of defeat.

She covered my eyes with her hand. “Close those eyes. You’re still so sleepy. Just relax, okay?”

I obeyed. “Okay.”

“My poor captain. He battled so hard. He endured so much pain,” she said, gliding the tips of her fingers down my bare torso. “I want to make you feel allbetter.”

The seductive note in her voice made my cock pump with warm waves. What was she up to?

“Ah, ah, ah. No peeking,” she reminded me. “Just relax.”

I closed my eyes again.

“I’m so proud of you, Rust,” she whispered. Her breathy voice prickled my ear, heightening my senses.

“But we lost.”

That’s why we were here, in The Bahamas, instead of battling for the Stanley Cup in the Final. After I proposed to Isabelle, we made quick work of Edmonton, but we lost in the next round to the Colorado Blizzard. The Blizzard were a juggernaut. We needed a healthy squad if we wanted any chance at taking them down. In the end, we had too many key guys banged up with nagging injuries—including me—to compete with Colorado. We lost in six games.

As soon as our season officially ended, Isabelle and I flew out here so we could spend some time together and I could recover.

“I don’t care about that,” she said, delicately sweeping her fingers over my abs. “No one expected you to make the playoffs. But you beat Minnesota and you beat Edmonton. You made it all the way to the semi-finals. Andyoutook them there, Rust.” She laid a gentle kiss on my lips. “You did. You worked so hard. And I think that’ssofucking sexy.” She paused. “Wanna know how sexy I think it is?”

“Sure,” I said with a grin.

“Keep those eyes closed and I’ll show you,” she said.

She took my hand and guided it somewhere—somewhere scorching hot and slippery and sopping wet. My cock turned rock hard in an instant.

“Fuck,” I groaned, sliding a finger inside her. “That feels so good, sweetheart. You’re squeezing my finger so tight.”

“I bet it’d feel even better on your cock,” she said sultrily, and climbed on top of me. “Do you want it?”

“I want it so bad.”

Our lips met, and she moved her hips lower.

“It’s all yours, captain,” she said.
