CHAPTER FIVE

ALESSANDRO

I’ve been back from Philadelphia for two days, and it was tiring. I had to teach more than a few of my men the meaning of what it means to disappoint me. I went straight to Jade’s, I’ve spent the entire two days since fucking her all over this apartment. Best way to deal with stress. That, and I can’t seem to get a long-legged blonde out of my mind. I texted her only once—the night after the wedding. But she’s infiltrated my thoughts whenever I stop and think.

Jade left the bed over thirty minutes ago to make up some snacks. Not that I’m demanding, but how long does it take to throw some cheese and biscuits on a plate?

I jump out of bed and make my way into the kitchen.

When I open the door, I’m stunned by what I see. She has no idea that I’m there, leaning against the doorframe in my boxers. I fold my arms across my chest and wait for her to finish. She’s currently looking through my laptop bag at files I gathered this week in Philadelphia. She’s got my laptop open on the table but she can’t access it without my fingerprint and face recognition. She huffs in frustration whilst hitting random keys.

Having seen enough, I clear my throat to make my presence known.

She jumps back at my presence, her eyes going wide.

She’s not even dressed, all she’s wearing is my shirt. A sight that makes me feel fucking nauseous after watching her betray me.

“It’s not what it looks like,” she mumbles.

“No? You don’t happen to be going through my bag?” I question.

She lowers her head and shakes it.

I don’t even want to look at her right now. Spinning on my heel, I storm back into the bedroom and get dressed. I grab a spare shirt from my carry bag and throw all my shit together. I scoop up my laptop and all the papers from the table and storm toward the door.

I’m fucking seething.

I turn and look at her, shock marring her beautiful face, still in my shirt.

“You’ve got till the end of the month to pack your shit up. After that, I want you out.”

“No, please, Alessandro. I was just being noisy. I’m sorry, please don’t do this, please don’t leave me, babe. I love you,” she begs as she rushes over toward me.

I hold up my hands, and she stops still on the spot. “You know what happens to liars and traitors in my world, Jade?” Her eyes widen in horror.

Finally, she’s listening to me.

“Your cards no longer work.” She whimpers as I close the door behind me.

I take a deep breath before getting in my car. I’m fucking fuming. I need a drink. I also need to speak to Leo about my week in Philadelphia.

Starting my car, I drive towards his penthouse.

* * *

I let myself into the elevator I have access for to reach his penthouse.

The elevator climb feels like it’s taking forever. It finally arrives at the top, and I stroll out and knock on his door.

Leo answers with a nod.

“Come in.” He gestures for me to enter. “Drink?”

I nod, a scotch is exactly what I need.

“Bea.” Leonardo shouts up the stairs.

“We’re busy, I’ll be down in a minute,” she shouts back.
