“This stops now.” Leo raises his voice, but only slightly. “Your father has summoned Alessandro and Rafael to Boston tomorrow. I suggest you two head home.”

Ant shifts Nic so he can lean on him, still winded from my throat punch. They head towards the door.

Before they make it out Leo stops them.

“Nic, have a think about how you treat your sister. You’re angry now, that I understand. I’ve overlooked a lot for you both”—he looks between Ant and Nic—“but to blatantly disrespect her, that I cannot condone. Whatever the outcome here, family is honor. She may have made a mistake, but she still deserves respect, if not for the fact that she possibly carries the future heir of Philadelphia. She does carry your flesh and blood. Remember that, the next time you call her a whore.” Leo’s voice is deadly.

Nic only nods and bows his head with a look of shame.

Good, so he should. How dare he speak of her like a common whore? She’s a queen, and if her father agrees, I’ll make her mine.

“Well that went well.” Leo drawls.

“I’m alive, so I would say I agree,” I nod and sip at my scotch.

After Leo leaves, I pack two carry cases. I have no idea how long negotiations and discussions will take in Boston. I like to think it’s pretty simple. Carmella is pregnant with my child. A bond between us is the only option I can see.

My flight to Philadelphia doesn’t take too long. I arrive at my parents’ house, late evening.

My mom opens the door with a big grin on her face.

“Alessandro, twice in one month. Does this mean you are thinking of coming home to work under your father?” She bounces as I enter into the lounge.

“No, Mother, I’m not planning to come home just yet. But I do need to speak to you and Dad.”

“Okay.” She tilts her head trying to read me.

Pointless really, I have a flawless poker face. Something that is worth its weight in gold in this world.

“Well, your father is expecting you in his office. Shall we?” She gestures toward the door.

When I enter my father’s office, he’s typing on his laptop. He looks up and smiles at me as I enter. His smile grows when he sees my mother following behind.

“It’s good to see you again so soon, son.” My father gets up to pour us a drink. “Adelina, darling, are you staying?” He holds up a bottle of wine toward my mother.

“Alessandro wants to talk to both of us, apparently.” She nods her head for a glass of wine.

Once we are all settled into our seats, I lay it out for them.

“So, I’ve fucked up.” I shrug as I allow the words to come naturally.

My mother frowns, no doubt at me cursing. She’s not a fan. She also doesn’t like it used in the house. Not that father listens, but he tries not to curse around her.

“Okay,” my father probes nodding his head, prompting me to continue.

Fortunately, both my mother and father are levelheaded, it’s how my father manages to lead our city as well as a multi-billion-dollar logistics company.

“I may have caused some problems in Boston.”

“Alessandro, son, just spit it out.” My father frowns at me.

“Carmella Giordano is pregnant with my child.” I bow my head.

I’m not stupid. Not that I regret what I did, but I know the consequences of what I have done.

My mother gasps as her hands fly to her mouth.
