“Appreciation duly noted and you’re very welcome. No need to make these sounds,” he mumbled something to himself along the lines ofgoddammit, though it might have beenKermit. I’dnever know.

Ibit my lower lip, but just like at home, my laugh couldn’tbe swallowed down.

“You’ll pay for this.”

My body shook with laughter, and my professional and silent masseuse paused until Ihad recovered. After that Ikept any sign of either intense pleasure or amusement to myself, although Ifelt both.

Our brief hour came to an end, and we slid into our robes to make the short walk to the elevators.

“God,” Ibreathed out, letting my head drop against the chilled marble wall of the elevator. “That massage was everything.”

Ihad barely finished my sentence when the doors closed and Zach was up in my space, capturing my lips with akiss that woke me right up like acaffeine shot to my veins. His hands roamed through my hair, digging into my skull and massaging it in the same rhythm while his tongue tasted me again and again and again. Okay, sothismassage was everything. Definitely this one.

His face pressed against mine, as his torso and thick erection grinded into me through our plush robes. The touch sent warmth from my belly up my chest, which constricted and expanded the way it hadn’tfor afull month. Zach’sheat burned me, and yet Iwanted more, needed more, gripping anything within my reach and pulling him close.

“Ihope your back is pleased.” Zach groaned from my neck, where he sucked on my skin. “Ihope the tension has lessened.” He sunk his teeth into me in some form of punishment.

All Icould think about was that Ishould’ve moaned louder.

“Because Isure as shit didn’trelax.” He bit me hard, forcing asurprised and throaty sound out of me. “Not for one second.”

The elevator doors opened with ading.

“Come on.” He scooped me up, cradling me as he strode with confidence down the hall. His steps were unhurried but deliberate, and when Istared up at him, Isaw the look of aman on amission. The ache between my thighs increased and my heart…the fucker swelled.

Zach gave me more happiness than Ihad had in areally long while. Agenuine happiness, one that had nothing to do with my career.

Between the squealing and unadulterated laughter, one of my slippers dropped to the floor. “Zach!” Ipointed at the shoe and looked behind his shoulder when he wouldn’tstop walking, leaving it on the maroon carpet behind us.

“Why in the world would you need your slippers?” He glanced at me, his lips quirking up in an evil smile. “You won’tneed them. Not with the list of things I’mplanning to do to you.”

My laughter died out, giving room to my wildest dreams.

“Yes, all those things Isee running behind these round eyes of yours. Now reach down for the key card in my pocket and open the door please”—with ashort nod he signaled to his pocket—“unless you’dlike to start our day here in the middle of the hall.”

He didn’thave to tell me twice. Iswiped the key card, liking more than Ishould how he carried me over the suite’sthreshold. Not that there was one or anything, but Zach saved my feet from stepping on germs.

“Zach, what the…?”

My breath caught in my throat when he marched us into the extensive suite. My eyes roamed over the vast space dedicated just for asofa, armchairs, dining table, and aview of the city. Ithrew off the other slipper and wiggled out of Zach’sarms to the floor.

To my right there was the bedroom door. Iwandered in there, my toes sinking into the luxurious carpet with Zach trailing close behind me. He stood in silence while Iadmired the four-poster bed, passing my fingers over the intricate wall painting of trees with branches that reached to the ceiling.

Slowly, doing one last swipe of the gorgeous room, Iturned to face the man who thought Iwas worthy of all of it. “This place is the size of my apartment.”

“Do you like it?” He inched closer, brushing my cheek with his thumb.

My first thought wasOh, no, the threshold thing did something to him too?followed byfuck, fuck, fuck. Ihad to divert this boat back into its casual sex route, because the bitch had changed course, heading straight toward an iceberg.

“Ido.” Iclosed my fingers on his wrist, pulling it away. The surprise in his eyes didn’tgo unnoticed. “And Ilike it, I’mnot saying Idon’t, but it feels like it’stoo much. We’re not even spending the night.”

“What if we did?” He placed his hands on his hips, certainty returning to his voice.

“What if we did what?”

“Stayed the night.” He quieted down, searching for something in my expression. “It’snot like we haven’tslept together before. And Joel can hold down the fort for afew more hours. Just say the word and I’ll reschedule my meetings and go in late.”

We were less than afoot apart, so Iknew I’dheard him right. This was the man who had disappeared for amonth, who explicitly said nothing and no one took precedence over his work. As it should. For him and me alike.
