Chapter Two

Wreck walked out of the clubhouse doors not long after Harmony went inside.

She was right, I did need to give her time. She was hurting, and as much as my heart told me to chase her, to remind her that this wasn’t her fault and that we would find a way through, I knew that pushing her wasn’t the answer. She would push back because she’s stubborn and frustrating and proud, and God if I didn’t fucking love her for it.

“Got a meeting at Glow with a couple new security prospects,” Wreck said as he walked over, swinging his keys in his hand. “You coming?”

I looked back at the clubhouse for a second, knowing exactly where Harmony would have gone. To her guitar. Nodding, I decided to allow herhertime. If that’s what she needed, so be it. The clock was starting now, and as soon as it ran out, wewouldbe talking.

“Yeah, let’s go,” I said roughly, slamming my helmet back on and climbing on my bike.

I watched Wreck’s eyebrow rise, but he didn’t question my attitude and followed instead.

The security firm that Leo—our brother from the Athens chapter—had helped us set up was blooming. Towns and cities from all around the area were requesting our men at large events and even personal security for politicians and local celebrities. Some might object to having what could be considered ‘outlaws’ watching over high profile football games and protecting the rich, but we seemed to have made a name for ourselves in a very short period of time. Possibly because they knew that we weren’t about to take any bullshit. We did the job, we did it right and we got the results they needed.

My men were scary and intimidating, and while I knew deep down they had hearts of gold, other people were scared to cross them and that’s what worked to our benefit.

At the rate the requests were flowing in we needed to expand quickly, so we were introducing a couple of new men from outside the club to work with our boys at the strip club we owned called Glow. This would give us an idea of what they were like under pressure in an environment that we could easily control. From there, we could put them where we felt they would fit and who was the best to use for what kind of situations.

I saw the two men sitting at the bar as soon as we stepped into the building. There were girls on stage, practicing their routines as music played in the background and bar staff stocking the fridges for when the club would open at 8:00 p.m.

One of the guys was bulky and heavy set, a good six foot four if I was guessing. He clocked us the second we stepped inside and I nodded to Wreck, noting that this guy had a good eye. The other was a lot smaller, still tall, but more on the lanky side with his slim build. He had a drink in his hand and was turned to the stage, watching the girls rehearsing with a smile on his face. We were practically right next to them before he turned to us, rushing to throw back his drink and slamming the glass down on the bar.

The bigger guy instantly stood and held his hand out to me. “Mason.”

I took it. It was firm and strong. “Kit… and this is Wreck.”

Mason shook Wreck’s hand with a slight nod.

The smaller guy wiped his hand on his pants before holding it out. “Lee.”

My nose wrinkled slightly but I took his hand anyway.

“We’ll give you a small tour of the place… let you know the rules, regulations, what’s expected,” I explained as I stepped back, folding my arms across my chest. “Then we’ll talk. Ask you some questions and get your info for a background check.”

Studying them both, neither of them flinched when I talked about looking into their lives, which was more often than not a good sign.

“Rule number one, you don’t touch my girls,” I told them sternly, eyeing them both. “We don’t mix business and pleasure and you’re here to protect them. You wanna get your dick wet, go somewhere else.”

Lee looked a little disappointed, his eyes flicking almost longingly to where Keva was on the stage currently climbing the pole.

Mason’s eyes stayed on me like he couldn’t care less about the other women around him.

I took the lead and Wreck followed behind us as I directed them through the club, pointing out preferable spots for them to stand or place themselves while they were on duty.

There was always a man needed by the stage to protect the girls from any grabby hands that were too eager to touch.

“If one of the boys needs to move from there, someone needs to take his place immediately. I don’t care who,” I explained as we pulled up next to the stage. “Your priority is them,” I told the men, pointing to the girls who were up there practicing their dance routines. They gave a smile and a wave and Lee’s eyes brightened instantly.

Narrowing my eyes at him, I continued my speech about how to remove anyone you think might be getting too eager or too drunk, where they were to be taken, and how to let the other bouncers know not to let them back in.

We continued out the back, Mason was silent but the way he watched me, I knew he was taking in every word that I said. I was already sure that he would be joining the team and I may even approach him about looking at joining the club depending on the outcome of his checks.

When we got to the four private rooms that we had out the back, I let them take a look inside each.

“We aren’t a brothel, the girls know damn well that these rooms aren’t for sexual contact and it better be kept that way. Each is monitored by cameras, so if you’re watching and there’s something going on that you know is wrong, you get the girl out as quickly as possible.”

Mason nodded, but Lee’s eyes still wandered as though we were on some fucking Disneyland tour and the information I was telling him wasn’t important. I started to grow impatient. This wasn’t a playground. We offered protection for these girls, and if something happened and my men failed, that came back on me.
