Chapter Fifteen

REVENGE AND RESCUES

GIOVANNI

It’s been almost six hours since they took Egypt. I had a plan in place until I found out Buddy was gone from his home.

Turns out Mancini’s crew took Buddy, and I know they’re using him to get to Egypt. We also found Carlo’s body not far from Joey’s car in a dumpster. He was shot in the back of the head, just like Joey. They were executed by snakes, and I will avenge their deaths.

I am ashamed to say I thought Carlo was responsible for Egypt being kidnapped. When we didn’t find him with Joey, I thought Mancini had infiltrated my crew like we did his. But it wasn’t Carlo. God rest his soul.

But somebody is telling my business to Mancini, and Wyatt doesn’t know enough for it to be him. I’ll figure it all out soon enough.

I load both my Glocks and strap a knife to my leg. I may like to use my fists, but you bring everything possible to win when you’re going to war. My cousins are strapped and ready, and my men are as well.

We are rolling deep, and we’re coming in unexpectedly. Mancini doesn’t know we know where Egypt is, and we made a big scene about her no longer working here. I made sure Leo was sent the right information to share, so it looked like he overheard something while “sneaking” around the building.

I knew they took the bait when Wyatt’s office called looking for her, and I had Daniel relay the message of her no longer being in my employ. They are fools if they think it would be that easy for me to let her walk away.

I’ve had a few of my most trusted guys sitting on the club where Leo saw Egypt. If they were smart, they would move her, but so far, they have proved how dumb they are because she’s still inside the club.

The fools didn’t even try to hide that they were committing kidnapping for the world to see. We could easily send the police over and have the whole place busted. But this is about revenge. I’ve owed Mancini a visit for a very long time, and it’s time for me to cash in.

My men have been discreetly surrounding the club for about an hour. We’ve basically covered the entire block. Nobody is fucking escaping the wrath of Giovanni DeLuca.

When I get into position to enter the club, I’m full of anxious energy. The rush of adrenaline pumping through my system reminds me that I’m alive.

Mancini’s club is masquerading as an upscale establishment, but it’s run by the wrong people to keep the façade going. It’s only been open for a few months, and it’s already getting a reputation for fights and shootings.

But even with the whispers of gang activity and illegal drugs, the turnout for the evening was pretty big. Even so, it didn’t take long for the crowd to thin out around closing time. I’m glad we didn’t have to wait long. I need to get Egypt back and end this thing between Mancini and me once and for all.

This time, it’s me and my men wearing the all black tactical gear when we go in through the back door. Unlike Mancini’s crew, we are prepared for war and are swift and quiet as we move through the building efficiently.

In ten minutes flat, we have torn through Mancini’s men like thin sheets of paper, and we are entering a locked back room upstairs that doubles as an office. It’s the only place Egypt can be.

When we break down the door, Mancini is holding Egypt with a gun to her head. The sight makes me furious, and I rip my black mask over my head so the bastard can see my face clearly.

He has three men in the room with him, and they’re all pointing their guns at us. “If you think I won’t splatter this bitch’s brains all over this office, you’re wrong,” Mancini says, pushing the gun harder into Egypt’s temple.

“There aren’t many of you left,” I say, stepping closer, but his men are following my every move with their guns pointed at my head. But I need them focused on me, so they can’t help their boss. “You are going to die tonight. It’s up to you how.” I stop so Egypt can see my eyes, but I’m still too far from her for my liking.

“If I die, I’m taking this bitch with me,” Mancini sneers.

“She has a name motherfucker!” I snap, losing my composure for a split second, and several guns are cocked at my response.

“I have friends now, DeLuca. It won’t be so easy for you this time,” Mancini chuckles like he’s not outnumbered ten to four.

“Take a look around. It was super easy. Almost all of your men are dead. And the friends you think you have, well… let’s just say they will meet a fate worse than death,” I smugly counter.

Mancini’s confusion is written all over his face before he narrows his eyes. He doesn’t know that Congressman Wyatt was the wrong ally to make. It doesn’t matter now anyway. I can count on one hand the amount of time Mancini has left to breathe.

“Just let me walk out of here, and I’ll let your bi…” Mancini doesn’t finish the sentence because Leo punches him in the temple so hard that he drops the gun and falls to the floor. The other two men are killed simultaneously with shots to the head.

I can tell Egypt is in shock because she doesn’t move or make a sound as chaos erupts all around her. I rush to her and wrap my arms around her.

“Baby, it’s okay. I’m here… I’m here.”

The sob that breaks free from her lips tears my heart out of my chest. I wish I could’ve protected her, but I didn’t. But I will from now on.
