Chapter 14

Addie

“It’s not really a feud.”

I cocked my head to the side, looking into Lucian’s eyes. “But you hate us.”

He shook his head. “I don’t hate you and I didn’t hate your mother.”

I decided that later I would ask Big Bob about Lucian and my mom. The way he looked at me and the way his eyes misted every time he mentioned her told me that something was going on.

“Your father on the other hand. Got no spine. No heart.” He downed a shot and poured another.

“What makes you say that?” I downed a shot and poured us both another.

“Those bastards raped my little girl, and she has never been the same. All I wanted was retribution, justice. Harrison couldn’t even give me that. I’m her father, damnit.” He downed his glass and poured himself another, looking me in the eye. “Addie, I may have done some things I’m not particularly proud of. But I was looking for retribution for my little girl.” He shook his head.

“How many guys?”

“Three, I think. Maybe four.”

“How do you know?”

He gazed at me. No. not at me—through me. “I saw the video.” His voice was barely above a whisper.

“Do you still have it?” My blood boiled, thinking that my family, my men could have been responsible for something like this.

He fixed his eyes on his glass in front of him and slowly nodded. “Wanted to delete it but… I don’t know. I refuse to watch it again but….” He shook his head.

“Send it to me.” I downed a shot as the liquid started to work its magic.

His head snapped up. “You want me to—”

“Yes, I do.” I tilted my head to the side, clenching my jaw, taking a moment to calm down and collect my thoughts. “You said you wanted retribution and I’m going to give it to you. So, send me the video so I know who to take care of.”

He leaned back in his seat. “You know killing someone isn’t that easy.”

I scoffed. “Please. They wouldn’t be the first ones I’ve killed this year. I’m itching to take my anger out on someone. At least they’ll deserve it.”

He eyed me carefully as a slow smile spread across his face. “You are your mother’s daughter. I’ll be right back.”

I finished one glass of bourbon, but poured another and sipped it, knowing I had to slow down. The hard part of our business was over, after all. Lucian returned a few minutes later and handed me a phone. I found the video and sent it to myself.

“Okay, what’s the second thing you wanted to talk about?” Lucian sat across from me and downed another shot. I poured him another.

I placed his phone on the table and tucked mine into my pocket. “This is a legit business, right?”

“Yeah. One of the few legit businesses we have. It took a while for everyone to get on board with it, but they like it now.”

I took another sip of bourbon. “How did you do that?”
