“I know,” she whispered.

My eyes found hers.“Know what?”

“That you blamed me for not being there when it happened. That you not being there for Matteo was because of me and my grandmother’s funeral.”

“Who told you that?”

“Nobody. I sensed it the minute we got on the plane.”

I didn’t have a reply to that. Becka had willingly put up with my shit knowing I was wrongly blaming her for what happened. I stared at her, feeling the knife cut deep to the bone.

“I know you’ve been struggling with things since we got married but you can’t pen them up and then take it all out on me. If I’m going to be here for you as a wife, then I need you to be here as my husband.” Her tone was iron hard. “If you want this to be real too, I can’t just be someone who warms your bed that you can unleash on when you get overwhelmed. It. Has. To. Stop. You need to let me help you, not turn on me. Can you do that?”

“Yes.” With everything I am, yes. I placed my hands on her knees, desperate to hold her.

Becka watched me for a long beat, searching for the level of my sincerity.

I opened my mouth and clamped it shut again, the words sticking in my throat with fear.

“What is it Luca? Don’t hide from me.” Her voice had gone softer.

“I’m scared.” The words just blurted out. A sick feeling rolled through my body. Her eyes softened. “You’ve changed me. And I’m doing a piss poor job of dealing with how those changes are effecting me.” My chest heaved, my voice gone ragged.

Then she reached out and caressed my jaw with gentle fingers. I closed my eyes. Her touch felt like heaven.

“I don’t know how you do it,” I said.

“Do what?”

“Face everything head-on. Stay strong. Recover. Forgive. You make it look so easy for someone who has no reason to be able to do so. Someday, I want to know how, but right now I only have one question.” I drew in a deep breath staring into her angelic face. “Are you still mine?”

Becka’s eyes began to glisten, she stroked my jaw harder. “Yes Luca,” she nodded, “I am still yours. I will always be yours. Because… because I love you.”

Pure adrenaline tingled across my skin settling in my fingertips and toes. The fact Becka could say that to me in this moment was unfathomable. The love I felt for her ballooned in my chest. I loved her down to my marrow, with every cell in my body. Mine.

I cupped her face and took her mouth for a passionate kiss that I poured every bit of affection I felt for her into. Becka melted against me and I deepened the kiss. It was wild, full of passion, desire and ecstasy. I pulled away still holding her cheeks in my hands.

“I love you Becka,” I said against her lips. She whimpered in happiness, tears falling from her eyes. The weight of a thousand bricks fell from my shoulders. Somehow saying those three words to her set me free in a way I didn’t know I needed. “I love you,” I breathed again.

“And I love you.” Her fingers dug into my back, pulling me closer. I crushed her into my chest hugging her almost too tight. Her wet lashes brushed the skin of my neck along with her shaky breaths. It felt like my heart would burst. Thank you, God. Pressing my face into her silky hair I breathed in her scent.

We stayed that way for several minutes just content to be in each others arms. I felt her heart galloping in unison to mine, unwilling to slow down.

“What happened to your face?” Her muffled words broke the silence.

“Matteo hit me. Three times. He set me straight.”

“I always knew I liked him.”

I laughed and she joined in, lightening the moment. “I think the feeling is mutual.”

Becka pushed away to study the bruises that would no doubt get lots of attention at the funeral tomorrow. Her eyes settled on my mouth, her tongue poking out to slide along her bottom lip. “What do you want to do now?”

My lips twitched along with my cock. “Well wife that I love….”

“Yes?” she drawled.

“I still want to fuck.” This time her lips parted into a breathtaking smile. Her arms slid up my shoulders while my hands moved to fill themselves with her toned ass.

Becka leaned forward to brush her lips over mine. “Then why don’t you take your wife that loves you up stairs, and we’ll do just that.”
