“Ok, what was that look for?” I asked Arianna as the guys exited the room. There was something weird going on.

“I have no idea what you are talking about. You’ve probably had too much to drink,” she answered with not-so-subtle sarcasm. Picking up another cheeseball off the table she popped it in her mouth with over the top enthusiasm.

“I’ve barely had anything to drink,” I argued. “Where did the guys run off to?”

Arianna shrugged, holding back a grin.

“You are such a pain in my ass. Fine, don’t tell me. I will get it out of Luca later.”

“Oh, I’m sure you will.” Her eyebrows waggled.

“You are ridiculous,” I scolded with a smile. “I have to use the bathroom. I’ll be back.”

“Hurry. We only have so long before the guys come back and you two will be inseparable again.” Her pert little nose wrinkled. “It’s kind of grotesque.”

“At least I didn’t get to second base on the steps of a church,” I joked back.

When Arianna’s eyes rolled in defeat I turned and made my way to the guest bathroom down the hall from the party.

After shimming and bunching my dress up around my waist I took care of business and washed my hands, inspecting my makeup in the mirror at the same time.

I opened the door to exit and my stomach dropped into my feet to see the person waiting on the other side.

Serena lifted a gun to my forehead. Frozen in shock, I didn’t move until the end of the gun bumped into my skull as Serena stepped into the bathroom, following my retreating feet.

She closed the door, keeping her eyes on me and smiled sinisterly. “I seem to remember our last conversation being in a bathroom as well. I also remember giving you a warning. Did you think I wasn’t serious?”

Wrath poured off Serena strong enough to smell in the air of the confined space. Ice scraped at the back of my neck. “Serena…”

Pain rocketed through my skull as Serena moved quick as a flash, hitting me with the butt of her gun.

My vision blurred and hands shot out at the vanity to hold me upright. Warm liquid leaked down the side of my face. Fight back! I tried to stand but my sea legs would not respond. No. This can’t be happening. We are getting out. Luca! Oh God, please. No.

Before I could right myself Serena gripped the back of my hair, and smashed my head into the countertop. The last thing I saw was a blur of black velvet and a hallo of yellow hair standing over me as the cold floor leached into my skin. Then, all went dark.
