Pacing the foyer while I waited for Becka to come down was irking my patience. And despite my best efforts I was already in a grumpy mood from having to attend what I knew was going to be a total snob fest. After waiting for ten minutes I became increasingly aggravated. Growling at the possibility that waiting on Becka was going to become a regular thing.

“Sorry I’m running late.” Her voice had me spinning to look up at the stairs. All irritation fell away at the sight of her.

Her deep-olive green dress enhanced the color of her skin beautifully. Sleeveless, with a low V-neck, it hugged her waist down to her hips, loosening to flow freely around her butt and upper thighs.

My breath caught as she approached. Her hair was done in perfect loose curls like the first night we met. Eyes done up in copper colors. Between the dress and makeup, her eyes looked unreal. Blood rushed south, turning my thoughts to tearing the dress off and taking her against the front door.

And I wasn’t the only one ogling. Becka’s mouth hung slightly open while she stood in front of me, hungry eyes eating me alive. Her gazed focused on my chest where I left the top button open, tongue poking out to trace her bottom lip.

My smile split my face.

“You ok there, sweetheart?” I drawled.

Becka flinched, quickly snapping her attention to my face. Heat now coloring her cheeks and chest. “Yes. Yes, I’m fine.”

I stepped froward crowding into her. “You look beautiful.” I couldn’t stop the hungry groan that followed.

Her eyes shot to my lips then back up. “You don’t look so bad yourself.”

“I have something for you.” Reaching into my pocket I pulled out the ring I’d been carrying since the day we signed papers.

Becka’s eyes went wide as I placed it in her hand. The plain silver band shimmered in the light. The large princess cut stone in the center and two smaller ones sparkled brilliantly in her hand.

“It’s beautiful,” she whispered.

“You can’t ware it just yet.”

“I don’t understand,” she frowned.

“I know that sounds bad, but hear me out. For the next two days we are going to be surrounded by strangers and meeting people. Most of them know me to some degree or at least know of me. They will ask questions. If you have a good story to tell them explaining how we came to be married in three days then you can ware it. Otherwise, I will hold onto it until the wedding is over or you are ready to answer them.” I noted the hurt in her eyes and hated it.

“So why show it to me at all? Why tease me with it?”

“I just wanted to show you I have not been neglecting to get you one. I simply wish to be cautious until we have come up with a plan.”

Her gazed slipped around the room as she sighed. “You’re right.” She handed back the ring. “So, should we act like we don’t know each other? People will still ask questions if they see us as a couple.”

“No. We could act like we are into each other and just having fun while you are here.”

Anger flashed. “So, you are asking me to pretend to be a slut or something? The girl who goes around sleeping with random men at weddings?”

“No.”

“Its that, or I’m a tease that lets a practical stranger pet all over me and then snub him. No thanks.”

“If it makes you happy we can pretend not to be anything at all for the next two days until the wedding is over. Not know each other at all.” I shoved the suggestion at her angrily.

“Perfect. That’s what I want,” she snapped back.

“Fine.” Not acting like a couple was one thing, but she was happier to have people think we didn’t know each other at all. Is she ashamed to be seen with me? This time it was my turn to feel the sting of hurt.

Stepping away I shoved the ring back in my pocket. Producing her phone when I pulled my hand back out and handed it to her. “You need to make some phone calls on the way. Call everyone you need to and inform them you have decided to stay a few more weeks. Then later you can tell them you will be moving here.” Frustration had my delivery coming out as commands, not requests.

Becka’s jaw ticked. “You don’t have to be such a jerk. I’m not one of your men Luca. Don’t order me. If you had simply asked, I would have done it without contempt.” Her eyes narrowed. “A moment ago I thought it was going to be hard to keep my distance from you. Now, I can think of nothing easier. Can we go now? Or do you have more demands for me?”

You have no idea. I wanted to demand she go upstairs to my room, strip naked and wait for me to come fuck her into oblivion. That would cool her sassy mouth?
