The way he looks at me makes me feel like everything is real. My hatred towards him, though, brings me back to my senses.

"Does this mean you are done helping others who are in the position Everleigh used to be?" Phoebe asks.

"No, no, Phoebe. Please don't get me wrong. I don't need another woman in my life as a partner. I will keep helping girls out there who are in need of help, but we will never have a personal relationship."

"Thank you for the clarification. Tell me, Enzo, what do you think of Everleigh, right now?" asks Phoebe.

"I think she is the most beautiful woman in the world. She is kindhearted, caring, loving, hardworking, compassionate, humble, disciplined, and I hope no one ever sees what I see in her because my life would be upside down without her in it. I love her."

I smile at him and he smiles back. Things are certainly going according to his plan.

"That is beautiful," says Paul. "Enzo, you know our aim and being the one with the experience, we were hoping we could ask you some questions that would help better our mission.

"Sure. I am happy to help."

"Thank you. Not all girls out there are like Everleigh. Not everyone understands the significance of gratitude. The girls we want to help will be working for us, modeling, being ambassadors, some makeup artists, among others depending on several aspects. This is not to say they will be denied their freedom to walk around and express themselves. They will be signing an exclusive contract confirming everything they do will be monitored by our organization. They can't leave the country unless it's work and their earned finances will be managed by our organization. What would you advise us to do to make sure they will follow our rules?"

I shiver at Casey's words. These people are animals and no one will ever help anyone without expecting anything in return.

"That's easy. Make them feel comfortable. Make their working environment conducive and fun and let them know they can have any basic thing they want. It will be easy for the first couple of years then they'll get used to the environment and start demanding change. Change with them. Adjust your working environment, twist the rules a little and above all, make them understand that the world will never accept them without academic paper, social status, surnames, and anything to their names. They have been at a point where the world despised them, none of them will want to go back there again."

"Excuse me, I need to check on our lunch." Tears are stinging in my ducts, threatening to fall out as I leave the conversation. The world will never be safe for people like me if these are our so-called saviors.

I don't return until I notice the conversation has become friendlier. Enzo coldly eyes me as I walk towards him. I know I will have to pay for my actions after they are gone but I couldn't sit there and continue pretending I was okay with everything they were discussing.

"Lunch is ready," I inform, standing beside Paul and in front of Enzo. My hands are crossed behind my back as I play the role of a respectful wife.

They join me at the dining table where I sit directly opposite Enzo. Paul and Phoebe sit on my right and Casey on my left. This is going to be the longest lunch I have ever had.
