She’d fallen asleep.

Blake shook his head and sighed. This intriguing, cute chick, who’d seemed determined to get him into bed, had passed out during the movie. The type of movie he even refused to take his little sister to.

But when it had been a choice of sending her off half-drunk into the night on her own or sitting through a bullshit dramatic romance, he’d tried to do the right thing.

It was hard to be annoyed, though. Maybe because even though she’d released his hand, she’d slouched over just enough to lay her head against his shoulder.

Ignoring the ending of the movie, he glanced down at her again. She burrowed her face closer to his shoulder and made a soft moan in her sleep.

The simple sound made his mind flicker back to the hot make-out session earlier and had his blood quickening. Damn, he hadn’t wanted to stop. He’d wanted to carry her to the lawn, peel her out of those skinny jeans, and be balls deep inside her minutes later.

Was this something she did? Go to parties and find different guys to sleep with? Not that he would judge her or throw any labels her way. Guys did this sleeping around shit all the time. Some girls he knew, too. Hell, he’d been guilty of it for a while.

Not wanting to think about that scenario too much, he stared straight ahead and forced himself to focus on the movie. When the credits started rolling sometime later, Kristen stirred next to him. Perfect timing.

She stretched and looked around. “Oh man, did I fall asleep?”

“Seriously?” He couldn’t keep the sardonic edge from his voice.

“I’m never the person who falls asleep during movies.” She sat up straighter, looking a little guilty. “The movie was good, though?”

“Amazing.” He kept a straight face.

Her lips quirked, and an apology flashed in her eyes. “You’re lying.”

“Absolutely.”

Blake stood and offered her his hand to help her up. “We should get out of here. They’re closing up.”

She placed her hand, so delicate and soft, in his. The air in his lungs locked for a moment.

Her lashes fluttered up, and her gaze met his. Uncertainty and arousal flashed in her eyes, and he heard the soft hitch in her breath.

Beneath his jeans, his dick stirred. He silently cursed. Nope. Sleeping with her tonight was still a bad idea. No matter how many signals those brown eyes were sending him.

“Do you think your friend is home yet?”

Her lashes swept back down, and she gave what sounded like a humorless laugh.

“I’ll text her.” She pulled out her phone and did it on the spot. “I can take an Uber, you know. You don’t have to babysit me the rest of the night.”

“I don’t mind hanging out with you. We can always go get food somewhere—”

“Worst case scenario, one of my brothers lives out here and nearby. I can crash there.” She paused as her phone vibrated. “But there she is. Yep, she’s home, so I’m good to go. You sure you don’t mind dropping me off?”

He shook his head and shrugged. “Not a big deal at all. Let’s get out of here.”

Five minutes later, they were cruising down the nearly empty streets of Seattle. It was always a novelty driving through the city late at night, without the heavy traffic and crowds that ruled in the daytime.

She guided him to her friend’s place easily. A little surprising, really, for someone not from around here. Maybe she visited a lot.

He had that same keen ability of knowing how to get around a city fairly well after just being in it for a few days.

Blake glanced over at her, thinking maybe she’d fallen asleep because she was so quiet. But Kristen seemed wide awake, staring out the window. Deep in thought, maybe?

He cleared his throat. “When do you go back to Las Vegas?”

She sighed. “A week from tomorrow. Or today. What time is it? Is it Sunday yet?”
