KAAV

Icould see everything. The Hive Mind let me see right through the bubble. I could have just made it transparent, but I figured it would be easier for Weapons to not see what I was seeing.

Six teal-skinned warriors were floating through space and dying in slow motion. I’d needed to stop the kiss—as hard as that had been—because those warriors had been coming to see what the fuck I was doing. Six orange little blips had been moving faster and faster toward us as we’d kissed. If they’d seen me with Weapons, they’d have killed me.

Now I’d killed them. Well, a Khetar could survive in vacuum for a few minutes. Maybe some of them would make it. I watched as one gripped his throat. His teal eyes were turning red as all the blood vessels in his eyes popped. Thuliak might be able to rescue a few of them if he acted quickly.

“There’s nothing you’d want to see out here anyway,” I said. It wasn’t a lie.

She was gripping tight across my body. I’d set my armor to let me feel through it, so I felt the sweaty grip of her soft hands on my skin—even though they weren’t really touching my skin. I also could feel the way her big breasts were pressing hard against my back. As good as that armor looked on her, I couldn’t wait until I could rip it off and touch those breasts. I wanted to lick them and suck on her nipples. I’d bite her too if she liked that. I definitely got the feeling from her that she would like being bitten.

I wanted to know why the women were still docked withWrath. I tried to check various sub-systems before Thuliak shut me out completely, but rather than getting the hard answers that I’d have to extrapolate from various data points, I got a direct answer from the Hive Mind. It spoke right into my head like before.

“If you asked the women onAdam’s Rib,” the voice said, “they’d say they’re being overly cautious and triple-checking that contact withWrath’snull-field hasn’t permanently disabled or damaged any of their critical systems.

You haven’t though, right? Damaged their ship, I mean?

I thought the answers in my head again this time. I didn’t really suspect this was some elaborate ploy from Thuliak anymore, but I definitely didn’t want Weapons to hear me talking to myself.

The “null-field” was the way the Hive Mind tended to actively shut off all competing technology around Khetar ships and armor. I didn’t really know how much fine-tuned control the Hive Mind had over the field.

“No,Inseminator, I have not damaged their ship.”

Then why are they still docked?

“I believe that deep down, all the women aboardEve’s Ribwant tainted. Correction, almostall of them want it.”

I laughed.

“What’s so funny?” Weapons asked.

I remembered my promise to be honest with her. I’d made it on a bit of a whim, but it had felt right after having spent my whole life being so entirely dishonest. If being a spy meant dishonesty toward almost everyone, I wanted full honesty with my lifemate.

“I was just cracking a few jokes with the Hive Mind.”

“You talk directly to the Hive Mind? I didn’t think that was possible.”

As she spoke, and as I nudged the bubble’s thrusters to move it towardEve’s Rib, her breasts jiggled against me. I found myself wishing she’d reach down and squeeze my cock, but even if she’d wanted to, my damn armor was covering it.

“I didn’t think it was possible either,” I said. “It just started chatting with me up and making deals with me right before we met.”

She gripped me even tighter, but said nothing.

We floated in relative silence for the next several moments. The bubble had very minimal thruster capabilities, and I had to control them with my mind. I had us pretty much on course for the human ship’s airlock, which meant that only the hardest part was left.

Weapons’ soft, beautifully warm skin moved alluringly against me as she breathed. I felt her flat stomach pressing up against my back. Her hands were still trembling and sweaty, but she was not trembling as violently as before.

“Now I have to talk to your old friends,” I said.

“You’re going to tell High Command we’re coming?” she asked, and her fingers began to tremble against my abs.

“Yeah,” I said, “I just need them to open the airlock. What do you figure is the best way of getting them to do that?”

“Why didn’t you bring that gun with you?” she asked.

“It only works on Khetar ships. It’s not really even a gun. I could probably hack it open, but I’d prefer to avoid doing permanent damage. Do you think High Command is more likely to open the airlock if they think it’s just you?”
