Her hand on my cock took me out of it. The ache came back with a fury, and I stepped back. “The moment you and Hive are safe on the surface,” I said. “Milk his seed out of him if you have to. I need you pregnant so I can come back to you.”

She nodded. “I will. We will. As soon as we can.”

Relief washed across me. It felt good to hear her say it.

“I love you,” I said.

It was a human thing to say, but I understood the weight of it. I wanted her to feel it. She must have felt it, because she started crying.

“I love you too,” she said.

And then I walked away and turned my back before I could give in and go back to her. Chief had been lingering, and she shut the door quickly as soon as I’d left.

A woman came up to me, and immediately from the way she looked at me—or more from the way shedidn’tlook at me, I knew she was a lesbian. “The shuttle is waiting,” she said. “I’m Lesbian Scientist Cassandra.”

She reached out her hand, and I looked down at her and squinted. “What?”

“Oh,” she said, “that’s what Hive told us we should call ourselves.”

“I don’t—”

“He said that if we put the word ‘lesbian’ into our role, it will immediately let Khetar we work with know that they might as well not even bother trying to breed us.”

“I see. Do I have to call you that?”

I remember how angry Chief had gotten when Kaav had called herlesbian, but he’d done it in a very different context.

“It would help reinforce things,” Cassandra said, “let them know upfront not to get their dingdongs hard.”

“I will call you Scientist in private.”

She just nodded.

“What is your field?”

“I was in my last year of school. I wanted to go into wave state stuff though.”

I nodded, realizing that human science was now far above what Khetar had. I hadn’t the slightest idea what a ‘wave state’ was. I wondered how long Hive would remember something like that. Maybe he’d already forgotten, and Lesbian Scientist Cassandra already knew more than him?

“They said,” she said, “that I was more valuable as a student because all the general and basic stuff is more fresh in my head than with seasoned scientists. Whatever specialists know might not be useful for getting the Khetar up to speed until they’ve mastered the basics.”

I was trying to imagine it without laughing. Telling a group ofInseminatorsthat a human female was going to come onto the ship before they landed to give them a crash course—right before the ship itself crashed—on basic science. My pack would all be rock-hard, seed dribbling out of their cocks at the thought of it. Which one of them would be able to get her to agree to breed with him first? They’d all be wondering just how much science would she be able to teach before she had a thick cock in her mouth and couldn’t get another word out.

And that’s why we’d have to call her Lesbian Scientist. Ironically enough, calling her that was the only way to get the Khetar to see her as just Scientist.

“Is anyone else coming with us?” I asked.

Scientist frowned. “A straight one. Like Hive suggested, or at least I think he did.”

I nodded. “He did. This straight woman is already tainted?”

Cassandra frowned and shook her head.

I sighed heavily.

The problem, of course, was that for her to travel with us on the shuttle, I’d either have to take elaborate measures to hide myself from her, or I’d have to acclimate her in advance by tainting her.

I knew the second choice was the best, as otherwise my first impression of rejoining my pack would be overshadowed by this woman throwing herself at whoever received us. If she got used to Khetar anatomy—through sight alone, because she wasn’t ever going to touch me—then she might be able to keep her kitten dry throughout her first contact with my pack.
