This time Zane didn’t give a shit and lunged for the woman, but she pulled something out from the strap on her thigh, and two springing cords flew out and pieces attached to Zane and he fell to the dock, convulsing. She was Tasering him. He shook like he was having a seizure while the bitch with cold blue eyes just smiled.

“Why, you fucking cunt,” I screamed, lunging for her and the Taser, but she was quick and dodged my attack—only that also made her release her hand on the Taser, and Zane stopped spasming.

Moord’s cane was back out, and he caught me hard on the side of the head, sending me once again flying into a heap on the dock.

The blonde psycho-bitch giggled.

I would kill her.

“I really did raise you better, Haina,” Moord said with such toxic disappointment in his tone it was hard not to have a visceral reaction to it and drop my gaze to the floor. I’d dealt with his disappointment in me every day of my life for twenty-three years. That tone was a trigger for me.

But I fought it and sneered at him as I pushed myself back to my feet. “Yeah, well, your parenting fucking sucked, old man.”

Fury gleamed in his eyes.

“Nereza,” Zane said, his words coming out a half groan, half hiss. “Fucking cunt.”

“Lovely to see you, too, Zane. I have missed you so,” she replied.

Rix and Jorik helped their brother up and were eyeing Zane curiously.

Nereza turned her attention to me. “My apologies for not greeting you properly sooner, sister.” Then that bitch stepped forward and embraced me. “I have missed you.”

What the fuck? But I was frozen in place with her arms around me, her mouth next to my ear. I’d never met this murderous nut-job in my life.

I had to be dreaming. Kappas didn’t fucking hug, let alone this sadistic bitch with the soulless eyes.

“Play along or we will torture them for days and make you watch,” she whispered, before pulling back, all big fake smiles.

I didn’t say a word.

“I see that our time in Sector Eight has proven beneficial for you, gaining the trust of the North brothers. Well done.” She stepped back beside Moord, still smiling.

“I don’t—”

She cut me off with a sharp look, reminding me of what she’d just said.

I clamped my mouth shut.

“Yes, despite the filthy language that Haina has adopted, she has done well on her assignment,” Moord said.

I nearly swallowed my tongue. Praise from Moord? Now I was definitely dreaming.

“But the language can be beaten out of her, so I’m not worried.”

Never mind, not dreaming.

He jerked his head at the super soldiers behind Jorik, Rix, and Zane. “All right then, enough playing around. Let’s get a move on.”

None of us moved.

Moord gave an impatient look. Then before anyone of us could do anything, a sharp prick stung my neck, and I could see out of the corner of my eye the same thing happening to my guys, too.

I barely had three seconds before my eyes slid shut and my body crumpled to the dock, but those three seconds were more than enough time to see the look of absolute triumph in Commander Moord’s eyes. He’d won.
