Then I block her number.

Next, I fly out of my shoes as I chase after Gemma. “Gemma, wait!” I call out to her. “Please don’t go. Look, at least let me explain myself. There’s nothing going on between my student and I.” My pulse thuds in my ears. “I blocked her number. I’ll show it to you on my phone.”

“Goodnight, Wyatt,” Gemma replies over her shoulder.

“Goodnight?!” I answer quickly. “That’s it, you’re just gonna walk out?”
