“Hey,” Aria bellowed, skidding to a stop with three boxes of bonbons in her arms. “There’s no time to get mushy-gushy. Save your romance scale of devotion kissy faces for later. We’ve got enough bonbons to give us tummy aches for days, and the plane’s waiting to take us to see Lolo and Lala.”

“Raincheck on the mushy-gushy stuff?” Landon asked.

Pure joy radiated from every cell in her body.

“You better believe it, heartthrob.”

Aria handed her the boxes of bonbons and patted Landon’s arm. “Will you pick me up? I need to say something.”

Landon raised an eyebrow. And rightly so. Pure mischief glimmered in the child’s eyes.

“Who do you need to say something to?” he inquired.

“Everyone,” the kid answered with a shrug.

Aria had something up her sleeve.

The man sighed, then lifted his niece into his arms. There was no use resisting.

The child beamed. “You can eat worms,” she announced, laughing as she addressed the greater Denver metro area. “My family is going to Italy!”
