“Something happened, and we want to help,” Libby added.

Her heart jumped into her throat.

Landon was in Denver.

Was he hurting, too?

Then it hit.

He was back in the city, and he hadn’t dropped by—hadn’t done anything to make sure she was okay. She allowed anger to edge out sympathy and doubled her resolve. She wasn’t about to break down in the middle of a bakery.

“Is that how you found me?” she asked through pursed lips. “Did you have Rowen hack my cell phone?”

“No, we saw your livestream on LookyLoo and recognized the street in the background,” Charlotte explained. “We grew up in Baxter Park, H. It’s not like you’re hiding out in the middle of nowhere. The shop is only five minutes from our places.”

“Who said I was hiding out?” she fired back like a sullen toddler who’d been hiding out.

“All the gossip sites,” Penny answered, then slipped her phone from the Prada fanny-pack-belt thingamajig and held it for her to see.

She peered at a picture of herself creeping out of the house, crawling on all fours toward the Volvo. “Dammit, I thought I was evading the press.”

“You aren’t, and you’re coming with us,” Penny replied, pocketing her cell.

She didn’t have time for this. “What is this—an intervention?”

No one answered.

Jesus, it was an intervention!

“Listen, ladies, I want to get my chocolate and go home and hide in the soundproof room. I appreciate you guys coming to check on me, but—”

“Now, Raz, grab her!” Libby exclaimed.

The lion of a man pitched forward, grabbed her around her waist, and hoisted her over his shoulder.

“Wait, I’m not wearing—” she cried, but it was too late.

“I forgot about the no underwear thing,” Charlotte exclaimed.

Even though her relationship status with Landon wasn’t clear, and she didn’t have to abide by their panty agreement, the whole commando business was quite freeing and comfortable. That is, unless a giant heavyweight champion decided to throw you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Thankfully, she felt something soft cover her ass a few seconds later.

“I took care of the bare ass situation,” Charlotte chimed. “I’m so glad I decided to wear that wrap.”

“It is adorable,” Libby replied. “I’ll have to borrow it sometime. I am always up for a cute wrap.”

What was this—an abduction or a fashion discussion?

“Um…hello,” she called from her potato-sack position.

Libby patted her back. “Sorry, H, desperate times and all. Lucky for you, inversion is the queen of all yoga poses. Allow the oxygenated blood to feed your mind and usher in a welcoming sense of calm.”

“I’ll show you a welcoming sense of calm,” she growled and pounded her fists on Raz’s muscled back.

“Let’s get her into the Jeep before she totally loses it,” Penny murmured.

“I’ll get the bonbons and Harper’s tote,” Charlotte called as Raz hauled her commando ass out of the shop.

She stopped assaulting the man with her tiny fists. “Wait…I still get bonbons?”
