The child checked her fingernails like she was bored to tears. “Our dads and uncles aren’t super quick when it comes to this kind of stuff, are they, Ms. Classroom Helper Lady?” Phoebe finished, sharing a look with Madelyn Malone.

The nanny matchmaker replied with a little wink.

Who didn’t have a secret side plan for his love life?

Aria took his hand and squeezed it. “You’ve got to do something big for Aunt Harper to prove you’re not a douche nozzle butthole.”

“And you’ve got a lot to prove, mate. I saw Harper a few hours ago,” Raz added.

“You saw her?” he rasped, and his heart jumped into his throat.

The beefcake shifted his stance. “Don’t get mad, but I helped kidnap her.”

“What?”

He raised his hands defensively. “She’s fine. She’s not tied up in some basement. Libby, Penny, and Charlotte asked me to do it. They needed to talk to her, and she wasn’t calling them back.”

“Is she okay? How’d she look?”

Raz cringed. “Like a ballerina crossed with a chocolate-obsessed feral cat, but she was wearing your black shirt, mate. The one she married you in. That must count for something. And she smelled god-awful. So I assume she’d been wearing it for a while.”

“That’s good, Uncle Landy. That means she misses you.”

“I miss her,” he confessed.

“Let’s get her back,” Aria announced. “What do we need to do?” the kid asked her friends.

“What does she care about?” Oscar pressed and snapped another picture.

“What balances her chi?” Sebastian continued.

Aria tapped her chin. “She loves chocolate, but it has to be more than unlimited bonbons for the rest of her life. But…Uncle Landy?”

“Yeah?”

“I would like unlimited bonbons for the rest of my life for my birthday,” the kid quipped.

“Noted,” he answered.

This entire scene was bonkers, but the kids were right. Whatever he did, it had to be big.

“Maybe this will help,” Rowen said, adjusting his glasses. “Penny’s a writer, so Phoebe and I wrote a story about her and read it at the writing competition.”

“Dude,” he said, shaking his head. “I was there.”

“And I started a whole charity and culinary education program because of Charlotte,” Mitch added.

Did these guys have amnesia?

“Again, Mitch, I know. I was there. I set up the music for your big food truck reveal.”

“And I’m a great big slice of beefcake. What woman wouldn’t like that?” Raz snarked.

Everyone eyed the boxer.

“Fine, you blokes know what I did for Libby. I won the bloody heavyweight championship and figured out a way to honor Meredith and be a better dad. Honestly, mates, we’d be lost without these women. They make us better men.”

“Are they just figuring this out?” Phoebe asked the kids.
