She zigzagged around the patio, gathering empty beer bottles, trying to work out her nervous energy.
“The call was about an impromptu meeting regarding a deal my manager was working on. She didn’t mention specifics.”
“It could be a good thing, right, H?” Libby chirped.
She froze. “Yeah, I’m sure it’ll be terrific. I’ll take these inside and see if the kids want to play hide and seek.” The last thing she wanted was for Landon to take off and leave her to field the wedding questions. She picked up another bottle and headed for the kitchen.
“Harper, hold on a second,” Landon called, and the sound of her name on his lips sent a shiver down her spine.
“Yeah?” she asked, keeping her back to the group.
“You don’t have time to play hide and seek with the kids.”
She pegged him with her gaze. “What do you mean?”
“You’re coming with me.”
She nearly dropped the bottles. “Why would I do that?”
His throat constricted as he swallowed hard. “My manager said she needs to meet with me and my new wife.”
