DONOVAN

After a conversation to soothe Savannah’s worry by telling her wolves didn’t pass transmit anything during sex—seeing as we’d forgone a condom that time—I discovered she was on birth control and fucked her again. This time on the grass, and the sweet taste of her still on my tongue, had me craving her lips around my cock. But that would come. We had plenty of time to explore and for me to fuck her some more.

We took a shower together, and I tended to her; washed her hair, and her body, trying not to do her again but failing. My willpower didn’t stretch far enough to stop me from banging her hard from behind, playing with her little bud, as she splayed her hands against the tiled wall and moaned in wanton pleasure.

My wolf wanted to show off his prowess, and the man in me wasn’t far behind. Her moans of pleasure became a competition. I wanted to learn her sounds, her rhythm, and fuck out the memory of any man who’d touched her before me.

Once satisfied, for now, we dried off and got dressed. I moved off to call Kyran while she finished getting ready.

“Thanks for last night, buddy,” I told him once he answered.

“Did you sort it out?”

I hid a smile. “You could say that.”

“Oh,” he laughed. “That’s the ‘I’m being a gentleman, but I fucked her senseless’ voice.”

“You’re a crude bastard sometimes.”

“I say it like it is. Deal with it. Harrison called. He’s driving over early. Said he would be with you late afternoon. Something about Justin not shutting up, too excited to get here. Max will arrive tomorrow in time for the cookout.”

“The cookout you arranged.” I drawled.

“Yeah, but everything’s organized. I’ve sorted it. We’ll need help tomorrow to set everything up at your place. You know what Emily’s like when she gets sorted.”

Frank’s wife, the woman who was like a mother to me, was vicious when preparing for a celebration of any kind in the creek. The thought of her previous events filled with tissue paper and fairy lights made me shudder.

My poor cabin.

“A few might saunter in from my pack to enjoy the celebrations,” Kyran added, laughing when I hissed, anticipating what that could mean. “Don’t worry. Everleigh is drowning her sorrows with Jason Kendrick, one of the younger pups in the pack. He’s deluded even to let her. But she needs to be careful.”

“Why?”

“The guy’s besotted already. He’ll be asking her to marry him next.”

“That’s Everleigh’s problem.”

“Yeah. It is. But thanks for that. Three bonfire parties they’ve had in a row since you told her you were ending it, getting drunk and squealing like hens.”

“Sorry,” I smirked. “But you were right about her. It’s good I got out while I did. She almost scratched my face off.”

“Told you, brother. I’ve planned to come over and spend a couple of days in the creek. Everything is all in order here. But as I say, because there’s a crossover with friendships in our packs, you may find a few of mine trailing over, too. I’ll stay in the guest cabin with Harrison and Max, and come over about the same time Harrison is due in. See you then.”

I ended the call with Kyran, smiling at Savannah entering the room all dressed and ready to go.

“I need to do some laundry,” she told me. “And buy some new clothes if I’m staying here a few days.”

I smiled, loving that she wore the same dress she’d worn on our first date. Today, she wore her flat sandals, so I towered over her. I liked it.

“Let’s take a walk and then you can head into town. Mathilda has a clothes store called Majestic. She has a decent range for you to browse through.”

“Thanks. I’ll do that. I’ll try to catch Grace at the same time. Confess all.”

“She’ll be fine,” I replied. “I’ll run some errands while you do that. Maybe we can go out for a drink later?”

“I might owe that to Grace first. Raincheck?”
