His finger slipped beneath the curve of the corset, stroking the top of my breast.

“Donovan,” I warned, more sternly this time. He blinked, reluctantly pulling his hand away. The hunger in his eyes weakened me at the knees but I had to be strong.

Saying nothing, he grabbed his keys from the hook, muttering something. I followed, hiding a smile, and letting him wallow in his silence as we drove over to the guest cabin.

“Hey guys,” Kyran welcomed as he opened the door. “Come on in.”

Donovan didn’t say anything, shoving his friend aside so he could enter.

“Hey,” said Kyran, but then he noticed me, took in my clothes, and burst into laughter.

“Cheers, Kyran,” I muttered, frowning.

Chuckling, he ushered me inside. “It’s not about you, sweetheart. You look lovely. Come on. I’ll grab you a beer while you wait for Grace.”

“Thanks.” I followed him inside to see Harrison seated in the living room. I waved in welcome. “Hi. Where’s Justin?”

“I’ve lost him for the evening.” He smiled tentatively. “He’s having a sleepover with Grace's parents.”

“They adore him. They were so excited to see him earlier.”

“Yeah.” His gaze flicked over toward the kitchen where Donovan was busy slamming a few things around. “He okay?”

“I refused to keep the shirt on all night.”

Kyran handed me a beer. “Welcome to the wolves.”

“Amen to that.” I clinked his bottle with mine.

Not long after, Grace arrived, strolling in and looking sensational with the green silk wrap-over dress she’d bought earlier. She’d paired it with some killer strappy sandals, setting off the tight-fitting dress.

“Hi everyone!”

Kyran spat out his beer at the sight of her. “What the hell are you wearing!”

Hurt crossed Grace’s face at his reaction. “A dress, asshole,” she bit back, recovering quickly. Deciding to save the day, I put my beer on the coffee table, grabbed my purse, and ushered her toward the door.

“Come on. Let’s go hit the bar.”

“Oh, I’m there.” Grace snapped, glaring at Kyran. “And I’m buying the tequila.”

I cast a final look toward Donovan who had his fingers clenched around his beer bottle. Kyran looked ready to pounce on Grace to stop her from going.

I hurriedly dragged her out the door, trying not to laugh when our heels hit the graveled ground of the driveway. “What was all that about?”

“Kyran?” Grace asked, fuming, her arms crossed over her chest as she walked. “He’s acting like an overprotective dick as always. Behaving like my big brother. It’s getting old. Trust me. And he’s getting worse. The past month or so, he's been getting more and more overbearing. If I didn’t know him better, I’d swear—”

“Swear what?”

“It doesn’t matter.” She lowered her eyes, feeding one of her arms through mine. “We’re gonna get drunk and have fun. I know that much.” She eyed me. “You went with the corset one. It looks good.”

“Thanks. Donovan wants me to keep the shirt on all night.”

She laughed, her anger diminishing. “You’re not going to?”

“Hell no. When I said we’re going to have fun, I meant it. But I also need to pour my heart out to you some. Figure out a few things. I need an ear.”

“Then I’ll give you my ear. But not until we’ve had tequila.”
