She spun around so she was leaning on the center console. “It’s almost like that’s the whole point!”

Easing to a stop in her driveway I turned to face her. “We can’t. Not with you drunk. Please Kac. You’re killing me.”

“Fine.” She jumped out of the pickup and jogged around to my side. Pulling open my door she pressed down on my thighs. Her lips sucked on my neck. Fuck. I closed my eyes taking a deep breath. She nipped at my ear. Kaci’s hand found my cheek pushing my face towards hers. Her lips brushed my forehead just as I did to her. “How about you text me tomorrow?”

I didn’t trust my voice. Clearing my throat, I opened my mouth. “Deal.”

Her hand rested right on top of the growing bulge in my pants. Fuck me. “Goodnight Luke.”

“Goodnight Kaci.”

With that she slammed my door shut and skipped to her house only stopping to look back at me a couple times. I waited until she was inside to make the way to my place.

Kaci Sanders would be the death of me. Again.

The next morning, I had blue balls like a mother fucker. I could still feel her touches and her kisses. Thinking about it was not helping my morning wood situation.

Dammit. I scrubbed a hand down my face sitting up.

Last night wasn’t a dream, it was real. So real. Making my way to the bathroom I couldn’t help but wonder about Kaci. I could tell she had been mad at me when she texted me back, fine then don’t, so I just went with it. I figured I would scare her off more if I told her I was being flirty.

I knew that she still hadn’t forgiven me for not being there for her when I should have. When she needed me the most. But I couldn’t stand to see her like that. I hated seeing her hurt. I hated hurting her even more.

Stepping under the spray of the shower I couldn’t help but think why now?

Did she want to get back together? Or did she just want to string me along?

Hell would she even remember last night?

I was in for a long day. We had three-fourths of a field left to pick and the plan was to finish it all today. But the field was our biggest one at 230 acres. Mom was planning on bringing all the guys lunch since it would be the last day of harvest. Her and dads’ way of saying thank you. I was so sick of eating slick meat sandwiches and chips every damn day.

My morning went on like it always did. Fuel the combine. Grease the combine. Wash the windows. As much as harvest sucked, I loved it. Every damn minute. I loved seeing all the hard work we had put in over the year. It all paid off. It was all worth it.

Not many jobs relied on the weather like ours did. It was a gamble, risk, and reward all wrapped up in one. We had just finished up on the one half of the field when mom showed up with lunch. Jumping down from the combine she greeted me with a hug.

“Here honey I got you your own meal and I put some snacks in there for you too.” She handed over my lunch box.

“Thanks mom.”

“I also threw in your clothes and went ahead and did your dishes too.”

“Mom you didn’t…” Holding her hand up she didn’t let me finish.

“I know I didn’t have to but I wanted to. Now you get back to work.” She pulled me in for another hug.

“Thanks. Love you.”

“Love you too sweetie.”
