Heat rushes to my face, and Neo's lips tilt up in a smile. He dips his head and brushes his lips over my cheek. The pastor clears his throat and begins speaking. I have no idea what he's saying, but I answer when asked if I'll spend my life with Neo. I want to tell the pastor, "Of course, I'm not crazy," but I say the traditional "I do." Because I really do.

ChapterEighteen

Adali

Eric and Valery leave then Ian and Delilah take off. Soon it's just us, well, along with a nurse for Mr. Foster and a few guards. They're not up here in Neo's bedroom, though. It's quiet here, and I like it.

“Before we get started, I want to talk to you about something,” Neo says.

“This sounds serious. Is something wrong?”

“Not necessarily. You can say yes or no. If you say no, that’s it. Nothing happens. You live your life and nothing changes.”

“What if I say yes?”

“You’ll be in a very special group who get a say in what happens in our world. You’ll also have opportunities others never would.”

My breath hitches. "Is this the group my dad, well, Eric belongs to?"

“How do you know about it?”

I roll my eyes and chuckle before placing my hand on Neo’s chest. “Please. Eric isn’t as secretive as he thinks he is. I don’t know everything, but I know Ian went through the initiation and ended up killing Delilah’s dad.”

Neo’s eyebrows shoot up. “My task wasn’t so harsh. I took a casino for fifty million.”

“Whoa, and you didn’t get caught?”

Now it was Neo’s time to chuckle. “Not a chance. I have no idea what your test will be or if you’ll pass it. There are risks, but the rewards are huge.”

"I want in." Maybe I'm too eager to belong, or perhaps it's the desire to contribute something to the society. I want this, and I know I'll succeed.

“Okay, I’ll give them your answer at the next meeting. They didn’t want me to talk to you about this, but after what happened, I insisted.”

“Thank you.” I slip my hand under the hem of his shirt, closing my eyes as I smooth my fingers over the silky warmth of his skin.

“You touching me feels good.”

“Get used to it. I love this.”

“I love you.”

I open my eyes, taking in Neo. He didn't have to accept me or care for me. He could have been like everyone else in my life. I was only with Valery because her taking me in made her look good to her friends. When I became an inconvenient teenager, she was done. Neo wants me. Not something like me or the glory of having a wife. Me.

His lips descend on mine, taking as well as giving. Our clothes are tossed on the floor, and then I'm flat on my back, his cock buried deep. The sound of flesh slapping flesh fills the room along with our grunts as we edge our orgasms.

Neo meets my gaze, and his eyes flash hot. His lips twist up in a wicked grin before he pulls out and flips me over. His cock slips in, probing deep as he pounds me into the mattress.

I love how he feels above me, how he takes control during sex. But more than that, I love that he allows me to live my life outside the bedroom and wants me to be happy. I’ve always believed I’d never have it all, but with Neo, the stars are the limit.
