“I’d like to go powder my nose real quick.” Powder my nose? I sounded like an old black-and-white movie, but anything was better than telling Mr. Suave over there that nature was calling. “Can you point me toward the ladies room?”

“Yeah, it’s right across the hall.”

“Thanks.” I pulled the kitchen door open, but stopped before stepping through. Over the last couple of minutes, I’d decided that Kai wasn’t playing games with me. He seemed like a genuine guy who just so happened to be interested in my job. I could spare him a few kind words before I did my best to crush him during my interview.

I looked over my shoulder at him, but did not gaze into his eyes. I gazed at the way his buttons tugged against his fully packed chest. That wasn’t on the no-no list, so I was still good. And the longer I looked at those pecs the good-er I got.

Yowza!

“Good luck this morning,” I said.

He tossed his empty bottle in the recycling bin and folded his arms across his chest as if he knew the thoughts racing through my mind. “Like I said before, I don’t think I’ll need much luck, but thanks anyway.”

He dared to wink at me again.

I dared to get all tingly inside.

I hurried to the bathroom. I had more than one thing I needed to get out of my system.

Unfortunately, I could only flush one of them down the drain.
