“Don’t forgetto write down what flavor you want,” I called to the figure that was quickly walking away.

The large, retreating form stopped and turned to face me.

His expression was completely flat, but his dark eyes danced with mischief.

I felt myself smiling.

“I know that look,” I said, tilting my head.

He walked closer, his white polo shirt looking crisp against his tanned skin, his thick, muscled biceps straining against the sleeves.

As sometimes happened when I was with him, I was struck with an odd sensation.

Predator.

The thought flashed through my mind like a bolt of lightning.

Fast, undeniable.

And silly.

Josh Kelley was a coworker, someone I considered a friend.

A tech geek, just like me.

Well, not exactly like me.

I had the stereotypical awkwardness, glasses, and pudge.

Josh did not.

In fact, there was nothing geeky about him at all, at least not physically.

Sure, he could take any piece of electronic equipment apart, close his eyes, and put it back together without making a mistake.

And sure, he was the best hacker—though I chose not to use that very loaded term—this side of the Mississippi.

But despite all that, no one would look at Josh Kelley and think he was a tech guy.

Mixed martial artist?

Crusader?

Werewolf?

All viable options. But not tech guy.

Because tech guys weren’t six-four with black hair and eyes that were a mix between amber and whiskey. And tech guys didn’t have the body of a Greek god, with bulging, defined muscle on top of bulging, defined muscle.

Josh most certainly did.

I shook my head, knowing I was letting my imagination get away from me like always.

Instead, I focused my attention back on Josh, trying to redirect my ridiculous thoughts and deny the pull of attraction that I was determined to ignore.
