“We don’t have a choice,” he said.

Davit

“Did you guys have a nice walk?”I asked later that day.

“We did,” Amethyst said, smiling.

“So…”

She looked at me, the smile on her face dimming ever so slightly.

“I want to keep my guard up, but this feels good, Davit,” she said.

I hugged her quickly then backed away, looking into her eyes.

“Then good. Go with it,” I said.

She smiled then looked out at the balcony.

I saw a quick frown on her face, though it passed just as soon as it appeared.

“You don’t like the balcony?”

She sighed then shook her head.

“It’s nothing,” she said.

“No, Amethyst. Tell me,” I said.

“It’s just… I miss the yard,” she said.

“You want to go back to the house?”

She shook her head quickly. “No. I don’t think I ever want to go there again,” she said.

It was what I had expected, what I thought she would say.

“Then we’ll go somewhere else,” I said.

She looked at me, her eyes questioning. “Where?”

“Whatever you want to,” I said.

She bit her lip, and I could see the disbelief on her face.

I went to her, kissed her as deeply as I dared without risking losing control.

Then I pulled away.

“Wherever you want, Amethyst. It doesn’t matter where. Because wherever you and Crystal are is my home,” I said.

She smiled then sighed.

“I don’t know,” she said, her voice soft.

I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulled her back. She rested her head against my chest.

“It doesn’t matter. We’ll figure it out. Together.”
