“I felt no need to belabor the point,” I said.

“No, I guess there wasn’t one. Of course, I think there was something else,” Elias said.

“What’s that?”

“You’re anxious to get home, didn’t want to waste the time it would take to really get your point across,” I said.

“I guess I’m guilty,” I responded with a shrug. “And besides, Seamus Roy has occupied enough of my time. The bottom line is he got exactly what he deserved and he’s exactly where he belongs, and anyone who might even think of coming after my family will know it.”

“Yeah. How do you think William will do?”

“I don’t know. Seems to have a good head on his shoulders, but he’s young.”

“We were all young once,” Elias said, sounding almost wistful.

“What does that mean?”

“Nothing. Just been around you too long,” he said.

I laughed and leaned back against the seat, anxious to get back to my family.
