I glance from Henry to Christian. “He was?”

They both nod, smiling a little.

I jump to my feet. “I’m going to do it.”

“Now?” Taura jumps to hers.

I nod, looking between the boys. “Where is he?”

“Just at home, I think?” Taura nods.

“With Jordan?” I glance between them.

“Who cares!” Henry sing-songs, too excited.

“Okay.” I nod and walk towards the door.

Christian’s face falters. “You’re going to go like that?”

I glance down at myself.

Black logo-print cropped vest top from Dolce & Gabbana with the black side stripe leggings from No Ka’ Oi. Candy pink light polyester hooded puffer jacket from Prada and the Nike Air Max 270 React in fire pink/white that match perfectly.

“Um—” I nod. “Yep.”

“I’ll drive,” Henry nods.

I shake my head. “No, I think I need to do this by myself.”

“Don’t chicken out,” Christian tells me, eyes stern.

“I won’t.”

I might. I swallow nervously, give them a solemn nod and walk to the door.

Taura runs after me, throwing her arms around me.

“Just think, in, like, an hour you’ll probably be back at our apartment, kissing him.”

I nod, nervous.

“I’m going to stay here tonight. Give you guys some space,” she tells me as she gives me an uncouth wink.

I swallow. “Wish me luck?”

She shakes her head as she squeezes my hand.

“You don’t need it.”
