“Really?” I try not to sound too hopeful.

“Yeah.” He shrugs. “I don’t have much on today. Pretty slow around here at the minute.”

I turn to face him. “Okay.”

He holds my waist, pulling me in against him.

“Are you sure?” I ask, my cheeks pink but my heart feeling relieved.

He nods once.

“Thank you.” I give him a small smile, probably looking more grateful than I mean to.

He bites down on his bottom lip, grins up at me.

“As far as thanks go, Tiges, I’m not really a big words guy…”

I laugh. “Is that right?”

He drags my body down towards him, looks down over me. “That’s right.”

He raises his eyebrows instead of asking the question.

And there is no question.

It’s why I’m here.

I’m here to forget.
