“Oh, hey?” I repeat back.

He blinks more.

“Listen—” I give him a look. “I don’t care what you do when I’m not here, which is this, I presume.”

He rolls his eyes.

“I’m not done talking.” I put my hands on my hips and he pulls his head back, amused. “You want to feel up random girls who are substantially less attractive than I am? That’s your prerogative. But when I’m in the same room as you, I am all you see.”

Julian lifts an eyebrow, paying attention.

“Is that right?”

“That’s right.” I nod.

He cocks an eyebrow. “Or what?”

“Or we’re done,” I tell him without missing a beat. “Which is fine with me, by the way.” I give him a half-hearted shrug. “You’ve wanted me for — ooh—” I catch eyes with his bodyguard. “What would you say, Kekoa — four or so years?”

He shakes his head. “More like five.”

I give him an appreciative nod and my gaze settles back on Julian.

“You’ve wanted me for about five years and I’ve sort of wanted you maybe for, like, three weeks, so it’s no skin off my back.”

Julian Haites snorts a laugh.

“So.” I arch my eyebrows. “What’s it going to be?”

Julian sighs, annoyed.

“You heard the boss,” he says as he unceremoniously shifts the girl from his lap.

He stands up, stares down at me, then slips his arms around my waist.

“Don’t you do that again,” I tell him, gaze unflinching.

He laughs a bit, shakes his head.

“Fuck me, you’re demanding…”

“Oh—” I nod. “You have no idea. But you’re about to.”

He flicks his eyebrows up playfully.

“Come on—” I nod my head towards the exit. “You’re going to take me home and put me to bed.”

He pushes some hair behind my ears, tilting his head as he looks at me. “Am I?”

“You are.”

He squashes a smile. “In what way am I putting you to bed?”

I catch my ex-boyfriend’s eyes for a second before I stare straight into Julian’s. “Any way you like.”

He smirks at BJ as he takes my hand in his, pulls me out of the club.

I don’t look back.
