“And?” Henry gives me an impatient look.

I shrug. “We were interrupted.”

“Bullshit.” He sits back in his chair. “If you wanted to tell her, you’d have already done it.”

I give him a look. “That’s not true.”

“Oh yeah.” He rolls his eyes. “I forgot how good you are at being restrained when it comes to Magnolia.”

He gives me a look and I flip him off.

I put both my hands behind my head and crack my back.

“It’s got to be different this time, man.”

My brother gives me an exasperated look.

“Agreed.”

“I haven’t figured out that part yet.” I bite down on my bottom lip, shake my head a little helplessly.

“Pretty in my head about it, man.”

“About what?” Henry sighs. “She’ll call it with Jules the second she knows you’ve called it with Jordan—”

I shake my head at him. “That’s not what it’s about.”

“What then?” Henry asks impatiently before he sinks his beer.

I breathe out. “That day, up in Angsley, you didn’t see how she looked at me.”

“Fuck, Beej.” Henry breathes out, tired. “You don’t see how she looks at you— this is in your fucking head.”

“No, it’s not.” I stare at him. “You all but said it yourself—”

“Listen.” Henry bangs my forearm with his fist. “Do I think, objectively, that she deserves more than the way you’ve treated her in the past? Yes.”

My head drops, but he keeps going.

“Do I also objectively think that you deserve more than the way she’s treated you?” He lifts a brow. “Yes.”

I look back up at him.

“You’ve both fucked up,” Henry tells me, both eyebrows up now. “Doesn’t mean you don’t belong together.”

I swallow, press my tongue into my bottom lip. “She’s not forgiven me, Hen.”

“I know.” He nods slowly. “Give her time.”

I lift my shoulders, feeling beat. “How much?”

Henry shrugs back. “Does it matter, Beej? It’s Parks.”

I drop my head in my hands and rub my eyes. “It’s been years.”

Henry pulls a face like he’s unsure. “Has it?”

I look up at him, confused.
