He shrugs again.
“Gone where?” I ask louder because I like Daisy and I worry about some of the shit those boys do. She’s not a willing participant. She’s never wanted to be part of it, always made that clear.
“She’s not—”
“—Dead?” Henry guesses grimly. Shakes his head.
Thank fuck. Who knows with that lot lately.
The boys always sort of shielded us from it. Knew they were doing shit I didn’t want to know about, but Parks being with Julian opened up the conversation.
“Julian took her away,” Henry tells me.
I lick my bottom lip, thinking. “Why?”
Henry squares off. Sighs.
Chips the ball perfectly. Looks back up me.
“Jo ended it with Tausie.”
“What?” I blink.
He nods.
Can’t believe he didn’t tell me. What the fuck is going on?
“Something happened.” Henry nods to himself. “Has to have — he wouldn’t have done it otherwise.”
I nod, look over at him.
“I mean, that’s good for you though, right? You and Taurs can figure your shit out.”
My little brother breathes out heavily through his nose. Pushes his hand through his hair.
“I don’t know.”
I frown over at him.
“She never made the call—” He shrugs.
I breathe out. Fuck.
“And if we start dating now, I’ll spend the rest of my life wondering if she’s with me because Jonah called it for her.”
I nod quietly.
“Fuck—” I stare over at him. “I’m sorry, man.”
Some sort of emotion rolls over his face that he doesn’t want to feel, so he hits another ball just cause.
“Yeah.” He nods. “Me too.”
