After devouring a delicious Italian feast composed of three types of pastas, two different salads, garlic bread, and enough wine to get half the city of Savannah drunk, we settled in for our weekly meeting. Normally, I just sit back and allow everyone else to make the plans and call the shots. I know my place right now; I’m not a made man and won’t be until I prove myself to the family. Still, we have certain jobs we must do to help our fathers. Conversation flows heavily around me, and it isn’t until I hear my name being called, that I realize that I haven’t been listening at all.

“Micah, what do you say?” my dad asks me.

I glance around the table, and everyone is staring back at me. Aiden, Solly, Gia, Chance, my dad, Talon, and Gabby look at me with narrowed eyes.

“Sorry, what?” I ask, shaking the daze out of my head.

“Micah’s been a little focused on a girl,” Gabby snickers.

Glaring toward her, my father snaps his fingers at me. “Micah, don’t let a girl distract you right now. I asked you if you had given any more though to what you want to do in terms of the casino?” he asks, but now I see anger flaring in his eyes.

I can’t disappoint or embarrass my father, especially in front of the rest of the mafia family.

“I think I want to handle some of the new business dealings at the casino,” I begin. “There are so many new clubs and restaurants opening in the casino and hotel, I would like to assist with the crews and associates that want to run their businesses through ours,” I state.

This is something I can do. I live mostly in the penthouse of the hotel that my parents own in the casino. While I’m only a soldier in our outfit right now, I have the capability to be a Capo one day, just like my father. Though, that day is far away, I still have to pay my dues and show respect to the family.

The men glance around nodding in approval at my words. I felt a weight lift from my chest as I noticed the sign of approval on their serious faces.

“I think that is a good first step,” Aiden says. “Though, I think your father and I had other plans for you,” he states.

I know what he is referring to. My dad is one of the best snipers around. He earned his way into the Antoni Mafia Family by using his skills. Those are skills he has taught me throughout the years. While I don’t always prefer using guns, I can shoot and have one hell of an aim and shot.

Having Aiden’s approval is everything, so I know my father is content with this for now. The meeting continues as discussions flare up about potential threats in our arsenal control with a rival mafia family and then the focus turns to profits in our shared business. I nod my head when needed, but my mind is anywhere but here. All I can think about is golden blonde hair, forest green eyes, and a ruthless smile that has stolen my attention.
