My heart beats wildly knowing that Micah did something terrible just to protect me. But, that is the world he lives in, right? And, the world I guess I now live in, too.
“I love you so much for saving me and being so worried about me, but the last thing I ever want is for you to harm anyone because of me.” I can’t bring myself to say murder—but we both know that’s what he did.
Gritting his teeth, Micah shakes his head and lets out a heavy breath. “Stella, I would die for you. I would walk to the ends of the earth if I knew it would make you smile. You are my world and nothing else matters but you. I know you are new to my lifestyle, but in my world, we take care of our own. Our ways might not be moral or legal, but we send a message and I sent one last night and now the whole fucking world knows that if they mess with you, they mess with me and the Antoni Mafia Family.”
All I can do is nod. I knew that once I accepted Micah’s heart and soul, I accepted everything about him.
The good.
The bad.
The dangerous.
“So, what now?” I ask, sighing.
Holding me tightly, Micah chuckles lightly. “We get you the hell out of this place and back to your penthouse. You keep working and we finish high school in a few short months. We go to college, get married, and have lots of babies. We live the rest of our lives fucking happy together.”
I can’t help but smile at that. It might sound crazy to most people, but I know that our life together will be amazing. We might be young, but our love knows no boundaries. We have both seen and experienced more than most people twice our age. We had to grow up early because that’s the hand we were dealt in life. I have no idea what our journey will look like, but as long as I have this wild, reckless boy by my side, I will be able to handle whatever life throws our way.
Together, we will love one another and survive because that’s all we know how to do.
