The best possible view of Mr. Laurier is of his backside walking away from me. That man is a non-stop talker.

I have two cups of coffee back-to-back before he lets me speak. And, even then, I don’t think he is listening to me. I wave goodbye as he gets into his jeep.

Samantha is an acquired taste. She is bold and brash at times. So much so that frankly, it unnerves me. I’ve never been with a woman who pushes her ideas so well on to others. It’s like she can brainwash you completely if you let her. Look at what happened the other night.

The day goes by fast and before I know it, I’m showered and ready to pick Samantha up for our date. We settled on going to the Loan Star Dance Hall for some dancing.

I’m kind of worn out from dealing with cattle all day but I’m the one who brought up dancing. I should have thought about how tired I would be at the end of today.

I get to Samantha’s house and she’s ready the minute I walk up to the door. I’m afraid that she might be angry about the note that Asher and I left her but when she gets in the car and we get to driving, she doesn’t say a thing about it.

To be truthful, I’m pretty relieved about that. I thought for sure she was going to be angry.

“Are you ready for some dancing?” Samantha asks.

“Well, to tell you the truth- I’m kind of tired.”

Samantha is silent for a moment. Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything. We get going on the interstate.

“We don’t have to go dancing. I understand if you are too tired.”

“Listen, I’ll order a Red Bull and a shot when we get there, and I’ll be good to go.”

“You don’t mind?”

“I don’t mind.”

We drive in silence for the fifteen minutes it takes to get to the dancehall. As we’re walking to the entrance, I notice how pretty she looks tonight. She’s wearing a bright red dress that hugs all her best features.

“You look really nice tonight Samantha.”

“Thank you,” she smiles at me.

I pay for us to get in and head to the bar to order the Red Bull and the shot that is going to revive me.

“Would you like a drink?” I ask her.

“I’d love a Manhattan.”

I give our order to the bartender and we both wait a few minutes while he gets our drinks. The band is on a break, so it’s easy to make small talk. We stand at the bar for about thirty minutes.

“I never knew you went to school to become a vet before you went into modeling.”

“Yes, I wanted to work with animals but when we got to the part where the better choice is to euthanize an animal, I quickly changed my major. I really just don’t have the heart for putting animals down.”

We talk for a little longer before the band returns and begins to play some country music classics. As predicted, I have my energy back.

“Would you like to dance, Samantha Laurier?” I offer her my arm.

“Yes, I would Liam,” she winks at me.

We leave the bar and get on the dance floor. I hold out my arms and Samantha steps in close. She takes one hand while I put the other on the small of her back. We quickly get moving with the music.

I love to dance but I seldom have a partner that can keep up with me. Samantha surprises me; she is a really great dancer. As I’m pressed up against her body, I start to feel some of that sexual tingling.

Samantha moves with me as if we were born to dance together. I feel her body through the sheer red dress that she’s wearing.
