Andrew and I both nod as we stand beside her on opposite sides.
“It is. Think of how much has changed in two years.”
“Yeah,” Andrew begins.
“Two years ago you were a flight attendant and now you’re a Chief Business Development Officer of a successful airline, that’s also named after you.”
Hazel giggles.
“I know!”
“Look, Hazel.”
My voice almost sounds far away, and I can feel my face burning. My hands are sweaty in my pocket, holding the small box tightly. I have nerves of steel when it comes to flying. But proposing? That’s a whole other ball game.
“Things really have changed in the last two years. Especially between the three of us. I mean- two years ago, Andrew and I were afraid to touch each other let alone talk about our love for each other.”
“Right,” Andrew chimes.
“Crossing paths with you feels like destiny.”
“Waking up to you both every morning,” I begin.
“It makes waking up that much easier. It makes being in this wild world that much better. You two have turned my every day into a little slice of heaven.”
“Every day I wake up, I can’t wait to do it again and again with you two,” Andrew says.
We haven’t rehearsed this, but somehow, we’re on the exact same page. Hazel's big, beautiful eyes are glossy as they bounce between us.
“I don’t ever want a day in my life to be without you two.”
“We want to do this forever, Hazel,” I say.
Hazel's breath is shaky as I pull the ring out of my pocket. Andrew comes to my side, and we both get down on one knee. Hazel gasps, covering her mouth as warm tears slip slowly down her cheeks.
“Hazel Sutton,” I begin, opening up the tiny ring box and displaying our carefully picked, three banded, diamond ring.
“Will you marry us?”
Andrew and I say the sentence at the exact same time. Her tears are falling faster now. She’s nodding behind her hand like she can’t say the word.
“Yes,” Hazel gasps.
“Of course! I love you both so much. I’m the luckiest woman alive!” she laughs, a look of pure joy on her face.
