Laura studied her for a moment and then nodded.

Two weeks to figure out the next part of her plan. Or at least the next two parts. They needed a place to go, but Laura also had another mission in mind. One that no doubt would make Harper lose her mind a little, but it was something she needed to do.

“Before we move on to wherever we end up, I want to go to Vegas for the weekend.”

Harper jerked and narrowed her eyes. “Why?”

She looked away. “You know why.”

“Laura, don’t do this! Please,” Harper begged.

“I have to. If I were any smaller or Leon any bigger, he would have…” She stopped and swallowed hard. Harper knew all too well what could have happened. “I don’t want my first time to be forced in the dark corner of a barn.”

“So you’d rather it be with a stranger in some sex club?”

Laura felt heat climb in her face. “I researched it and it’s a reputable place with background checks and everything.”

“How do you know that?” Harper asked with a glare.

Laura’s face was still pink with embarrassment, but she raised her chin. “Because I gave them my information, and they questioned me about the church and school without me telling them.”

Harper recoiled. “I can’t believe you’re really going through with this.”

“I never plan on getting married, so it doesn’t matter. I just want one good experience in case…” She trailed off, unable to put into words her fears. Fears that Harper had lived for years.

“Alright fine, but if we go, I want to go see Celine Dion in concert.”

Laura laughed. She couldn’t help it. Then Harper joined in and for several minutes, they couldn’t stop.

When she finally caught her breath again, she said, “You’ve got a deal. You see Celine, and I’m going to lose my v-card.”

* * *

Laura lookedaround the room where it would happen. She’d kept her promise. Last night she’d seen the Celine Dion concert with Harper and tonight… tonight she was atBittersweet, a club for all things sex. She’d kept her eyes down when being escorted to her room, not willing to look at all theotherthings going on.

The website she’d visited when she found the place had been explicit, and she wasn’t sure she’d ever blushed so much in her life. In a very tiny note at the bottom of the site, had been information about having any sexual desire fulfilled.

It had taken her two weeks to work up the courage to call the club, but when she’d explained what she wanted, they’d assured her they could certainly make it happen. There’d been a fee for the use of the room, a guest pass, and the background check. And now she was here, about to lose her virginity to a total stranger who was guaranteed to make it a good experience for her.

Laura snorted. She sincerely doubted there was such a thing, but at least she was here by choice, and it would be done with. She was wearing the one pair of nice jeans she owned and the top that felt way too tight, but Harper had assured her was flattering. Which was just a nice way of saying it hid her extra pounds. Nothing could disguise the broad shoulders and hips that had given her the designation just after puberty of being a “breeder” for the church. Because of that, she’d been left completely alone sexually. She would only ever have slept with one man, likely much older than herself, in an attempt to make more children for the church.

Beauty had nothing to do with it. Strength of body and fertility were all that mattered, and her early bloodwork had shown she was perfect for it. Unlike Harper. Laura shuddered just thinking about it.

A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts, and Laura’s heart kicked into overdrive. She forced herself to take a deep breath and opened it. That breath whooshed out of her when she saw the man in the doorway.

“Good evening, ma’am. I’m Rafe. Are you Laura?”

She opened her mouth to answer, but nothing came out, so she just nodded.

He gave her a curious look, then asked, “May I come in?”

She blinked. “Of course, please.”

The man entered the room, his shoulders nearly filling the door. He towered over her. Laura swallowed hard, fear creating a lump in her throat. This was a mistake. A terrible idea. She had to end it now.

“I’m sorry. I think I made a mistake. I’ll just go. I’m sorry for wasting your time.” She knew she was repeating herself and babbling, but she couldn’t help it. Terror washed over her. Even if this was her choice, it was a bad idea. Harper had been right. Giving this to a complete stranger was no better than giving it to some gross older man who wanted to breed her.

Rafe held his hands up and stepped back into the door. “Slow down, Freckles. I’m not going to hurt you. If you’re not comfortable, I’ll leave.”
