“Nope.I’d love something cold.”

Buying sodas and juice, then making lemonade and sweet tea was probably overkill. But I wanted the man to have options.I open the fridge.“I have all sorts of options. What would you like?I have...”I feel him right behind me.

“That lemonade looks amazing.I’ll try that.”

I only nod as an answer because talking while holding my breath doesn’t work so well. And with him so close, my lungs refuse to work.Thankfully, he steps back before I turn blue.

“I’ll come tomorrow afternoon and get cardboard down.I might even start framing out some of the boxes.”He accepts the glass and guzzles down half the drink.“So good.”

“I really appreciate your help.”

He leans back against the counter.“I’m happy to do it.It means I get to spend more time with you.”

This guy is blatantly flirting with me, but he hasn’t asked me out.I’m not sure what to make of that, but I’m trying to enjoy the moment and not set expectations that may end up leaving me disappointed.

On Saturday,Tyler knocks twelve seconds off his travel time. And he shows up with boxes.

When I open the door, he holds out his hand.“I had one of those fruity carbonated drinks, and the bottle cap has a flower on it.I thought maybe you’d want it.”

“Thanks.I have a few of these, but I’d love to have enough to do a cluster of flowers.”

“I’ll start drinking more of those fruity drinks then.”

“I have banana bread if you’d like a snack before we start.”Did I search the store for bananas that were ripe enough to make bread?Yes.

He sets the boxes down.“Yes, ma’am.That sounds amazing.”

I pull plates out of the cabinet and cut a big slice for him and a thinner one for me.“How long have you worked at the ranch?”

“A few years. It’s been great.Beau is a stand-up guy.So is Clint.Great bosses.”He pulls out my chair before taking a seat.“You’ve been here how long?I can’t believe we didn’t run into each other in town before you came out to the goat farm.”

“Until recently, I haven’t spent much time in town.I sleep here, then drive to teach two days a week. And I teach yoga in a town down the highway.”

“Near the diner.”

“Right. But I’m liking this town. The people are so nice.”

My phone chirps, and I glance at it.

“I don’t mind if you check the message.Someone might need you.”He takes a bite of the bread.“Wow.I thought my mom made the best banana bread, but I was wrong.”

My day has been made.

As I pick up my phone to read my messages, his buzzes, and he picks it up.

Daisy:Sutton and Ivy, friends of Grayson and the guys, are having a backyard thing today.Last minute plans, but you’re invited. Please come.

Me:Tyler is here helping me with the garden, so we’ll see.

Daisy:Bring him along.

Me:Maybe.

I’m trying to figure out what to say, when Tyler bumps my shoulder.“Are you a fan of roasted hot dogs?”

“I like them.Saying I’m a fan would be overstating it.”

His eyes crinkle at the corners.“You’re funny. My friend Sutton is hosting.Want to go?I might be able to get by here tomorrow to lay the cardboard.”
