“But, but…”

“No buts. I think maybe we should stay away from the donuts for a little while because you’re kind of scary right now.”

I look up at him, shocked, then bite my lip. “This is why my girls won’t let me eat them. You know how some people get mean when they drink? I get donut rage.”

“That’s not a thing.” Vega chuckles. I whip around and burn his skin off with my death stare.

“It’s a thing,” I growl, my voice sounding like the little demon-possessed girl from the Exorcist.

His eyes widen before he walks slowly toward me, his eyes narrowing.

He squats down, ignoring Graves completely as he grabs a handful of my hair and yanks my head back before slamming his mouth down on mine.

I stay tense for a minute, ready to push him away, but…well, he tastes even better than donuts, and I can’t do anything but melt.

He nips my lip, making it sting before he pulls away. “There you are,” he whispers, looking into my eyes.

“Um…so…there is a reason I don’t eat donuts very often.”

“Hmm…I’d avoid anything that made me homicidal too.”

I shove him then, laughing when he falls back on his ass.

“Okay, it’s safe to get up now,” I tell Graves.

“You sure? You went a little rabid there.”

I poke him in the ribs, making him laugh.

“Fine.” He stands up and sits on the coffee table in front of me while the others make themselves comfortable on either side of me. There isn’t a donut in sight, which is probably for the best.

Vega looks between us all and sighs. “Okay, I guess I’ll be the one to address the elephant in the room.”

“Wait, am I the elephant in this scenario?”

He frowns at me. “This is one of those trick questions, isn’t it? I don’t play mind Jedi with women. You all have powers that will crush me.”

I shake my head, amused by his Star Wars reference.

“Let’s just say it like it is. We have gathered here today to get—”

“Married?” Graves laughs, cutting Blink off.

“Fuck you.” Blink flips him off.

“I swear you’re all children. Look, I like you, or I did until you took my donuts away. I like all of you. Now I know what we’re proposing is a little…unusual. But after getting to know you all, I’m not sure I can choose between you. I’d rather walk away altogether than have to pick one of you over the others.”

Oh my God, they’re my human donuts. I don’t voice that, knowing they already think I’m nuts.

“I’ve already told you, I’m game,” Vega says, his hand sliding over my thigh.

“That’s just it, though. You were game when it was just you and Blink.”

He’s quiet for a moment, mulling over my words.

“Graves is my friend. He’s a good guy and is actually the first person I had in mind for our fourth fighter.”

I study Vega’s face to see if he’s serious, but I don’t see any deception in his expression. I look over at Blink, who is looking down at his lap. He must sense my eyes on him because he looks up, looking a little uncomfortable.
