“Don’t worry, everything is fine.”

“I didn’t know what you wanted, so I got a little of everything,” Blink calls, drawing my attention from Vega.

“I like them all. No lie, Blink, you’ll never find a donut I won’t fight you for.”

He smirks at me. After a beat, he steps toward me as Vega moves back, allowing him to cup my jaw and dip his head.

“I missed you last night.” His lips skate over mine in a barely-there kiss that I can feel from the tips of my toes to the roots of my hair.

I slide my coffee onto the island, grip the front of his T-shirt, and tug him down toward me.

“Are we good?”

“Yeah, baby, we’re good.” His lips press against mine again before he pulls back. I look over at Graves to check his reaction and see him with a donut in his hand, about to take a bite.

“What the fuck?” I curse.

He freezes and looks at me with a deer-in-the-headlights expression.

“What?”

“You took the first donut,” I whisper in the same tone I would use finding out I was being left at the altar.

“Sorry, is this your favorite? I can choose another.”

“It’s not that it’s my favorite. They are all my favorites, but you can’t just take one from the box all willy-nilly like that. It needs to be thought about and, and, and….” I shut up when I realize they are all looking at me with various expressions of amusement.

“I’m making this weird, aren’t I?”

“Aw, I think it’s cute.” Blink tweaks my nose.

“Cute? I’m not cute. You take that back.”

“You’re right,” Vega agrees with Blink. “I can totally see it. She’s adorable.”

“I am not adorable, dammit.” I stand up and stamp my foot, which doesn’t help me any.

“You all suck.” I snatch the box of donuts and storm toward the door, but hesitate and spin back around. I yank the donut out of Graves’s hand and shove it into my mouth before leaving with a swish of my hips and a flick of my hair.

I ignore them all laughing at me. Assholes.

I’ll give them adorable.

Throwing myself down on the sofa while protectively cradling my precious, I angrily chomp my way through what turns out to be a Boston cream that I stole from Graves. I don’t even feel bad about it.

“He doesn’t appreciate you like I do,” I whisper, trailing my finger over the box gently.

“I think it might be time to stage an intervention.” Graves’s voice sounds from behind me. When he reaches for the box, I hiss at him, making his hand snap back for a second.

“Hey, Duchess.” I turn at the sound of Vega’s voice, and that’s when Graves steals the box from my lap.

“Hey!”

He hands them to Blink, who walks up behind him before Graves sits on my lap.

“Get off me, asshole. You weigh a ton.”

“Nope. You stole my donut. I’m not in a very forgiving mood right now.”
